no apologies here, time to shoot the wounded horse

You don't fire a coach one year removed from an Elite 8 appearance.

Jeff has certainly dug the program a hole with how some of last season's recruits turned out. But he seems like a good man, he represents the school well and he deserves a chance to dig us out.

This sounds remotely familiar...weren't we hearing the same thing back in 97 or 98 but with football?

The difference here is football had a firmly established football tradition and with the right person as head coach was able to get it back together fairly quickly. Basketball does not have the luxury of 6 NC's and countless conference titles, so it is in a much more precarious position.

So when do you fire him?? Two loosing seasons in a row? three? how many does it take?
Do we fire him after 80% of the team has left? What is the guidline here?

He has one year left thats it

3-8

LMFAO at you comparing that disaster to Capel's tenure at OU.

My four years at OU were Schnellenberger, Blake, Blake, Blake. I would take the last 4 years of OU basketball over those 4 years of OU football in a heart beat. Hell, it wouldn't even be frickin close.

Yeah, get back to me when Capel sends 13 guys out there to cover a punt.

:)

Firing Capel now would accomplish nothing. In fact, it would condemn us to a worse season than most are already expecting. If Capels gone it's more than likely that we lose Cam & TJ, and are forced to field the team almost entirely from walk-ons. And who could we hire at this time that would be guaranteed not to be worse -- I say that because I do not believe that there is anyone we can hire, at this time, that would be better.

He attacks Cade Davis because he is white.
End of story.

Ha ha. This is an instant classic. Bringing up a players shooting % is now attached to race.

BTW, how did OU do with Cade playing a lead role?

What else do they have in common.

One guy never had any prior head coaching expeerience and accomplished absolutely nothing in his tenure at OU, the other guy had prior head coaching experience, took his prior team to the NCAA tournament and then took his next team (OU) to the NCAA tournament two years in a row, reaching the Elite Eight faster than either of his two predecessors (who rightfully were both credited with resurrecting the program). This is reality...oh, and Jeff did ALL of this before the age of 35.

What else do Blake and Capel have in common? You can take it however you want, I'm merely pointiong out how absurd it is to compare John Blake and Jeff Capel in anything...past that, I guess is connect-the-dot's speculation for the conspiracy theorists on here.

He's probably our best player next year so you'll love him next year.

Both had the first losing season in over 30 years at OU in their respective sports, and both had high expectations prior to their their first losing season.

Call me Captain Obvious...

I don't remember anyone having high expectations for Capel's first season.

Yep, because CLEARLY Jeff hadn't won anything since being at OU or had success anywhere else prior to coming to OU. That the comparison is even made is absurd to me.
