No respect from Joe Lunardi

Respect is earned, and you done earn it with 3 straight losing season and a total of 14 conference wins in the last 3 years.

I don't think you are painting an accurate picture of what Lunardi said. Lunardi has us ranked #70. He did not opine whether we would make the NIT, but placed us in a grouping of teams that are "NIT bubble teams with a couple of NCAA stragglers". Here is the non-mobile link (must be an ESPN Insider):

Also, in another article, he places OU on his watch list of NCAA tourney bubble teams after the "first 8 out". His first 4 out were: Massachussetts--Belmont--West Virginia--Rutgers. His next 4 out were: Iowa--Colorado--Illinois--Virginia. OU was among a grouping of 11 teams after that as being considered for the NCAA tourney bubble: Ole Miss, Akron, Washington, La Salle, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Lehigh, Oregon, Maryland, Colorado State. Do you not think OU will make the dance?

IDK. I think we will have a pretty accurate picture early on once we get thru the old spice classic. Its not an extremely tough tournament...very winnable and we should win it if we are a ncaa tournament contender. Our post players will be tested against West Virginia and Clemson(if we play them), so that will be good to know if they can handle solid post teams before we enter the Big 12.

I believe that if we are not undefeated by the time we reach big 12, we may make the NIT. I just think that our non conference schedule is extremely weak and should be taken advantage of. Gonzaga and West Virginia might be the only teams we face that might make it to the ncaa tournament and Gonzaga will make it just b/c they are in a horrible conference.

Undefeated? Come on now.

And more often than not, Gonzaga makes it into the tournament because they play a ridiculous non-conference schedule and perform well. They have a good squad coming back this year.

I just about guarantee we'll play more than two team in the OOC that will make the Dance.

ORU has a solid chance.
TX-Arlington should have last year, but lost in their conference tourney.
I don't know how much Ohio lost in the offseason, but they made the Sweet 16 last year, and darn near beat North Carolina to make the Elite 8.
Arkansas should compete for a tourney birth.

This season's non conference portion of the schedule is much better than last season's. It contains more road games and better teams.

A repeat of last season's 10-2 would be a very good sign.

DJ Cooper is back, stud. Our PGs are going to have to bring it against him.

They did lose their coach, so that could factor into their play.

If we go 10-2, I'll be ecstatic.

Their entire roster is back (if they lost anyone, he never played). They should have a ton of talent for a mid-major. I don't know who their new coach is, but if he's halfway decent then Ohio will be a tough game for anyone.
