I just don't see the point in trying to follow recruiting on a basis people do. I don't care about what Ronald McDonald thinks about our recruits he doesn't know how to rank classes and it's pretty obvious from what I've seen in OU recruiting history. The best way to rank recruiting is by what they do at OU. There's a good reason we only have 4 or 5 scholarship guys returning next year. I think Jeff will tell you he's done a bad job recruiting it's pretty obvious.

Nick, here is the deal...you make your point, and then you repeat it like 1,000,000 times on as many boardes as you can. It's annoying. Nothing personal, but YOU are annoying, and its not just you, some joker that is more into the B12 north and juco recruits has started about five threads today that are even more annoying, like I said, nothing personal. If Jeff sucks so bad, quit watching.

I almost think you guys want OU basketball to die so you can pat each other on the back for having all the answers. This is getting weaker by the day. Coach made some mistakes. Move on.

How many times and how many ways can people rehash the same old stuff?

So two guys with 22 posts between them are tired of the rehashing? Where were you all season? Things actually stayed pretty calm around here for most of the year, but with a nine-game losing streak to end the season and all the bad news (and virtually no good news) that's occurred in the weeks since, why in the world shouldn't people be allowed to squawk? It was the worst season in 40 years, and the offseason's been even worse, so far.

At this point, we can keep rehashing, we can limit ourselves to only positive posts (I'm all for that. Give me something -- anything -- to be positive about, and I'll be on board, I'll guarantee you), or we can stop posting altogether. Asking people to stick to the middle option under our current circumstances is unreasonable and a bit naive, and I don't want to see the board go quiet. So, it appears that we'll continue to have a mix of positive and negative until we learn about Tiny's status, about the the likelihood that we'll get in dutch with the NCAA, about whether we're going to land some of the recruits we all agree we need desperately or enter next season severely undermanned.

I might counter the whining by saying the cheerleading that's based on nothing at all is getting old, too, but what's the point of complaining? We're in a major holding pattern right now, and none of us knows what's coming. We could sign a few guys in the next two weeks and things would look much brighter (if that occurs, I'll be among those celebrating enthusiastically, believe me), or we could miss out on our key targets and be in big trouble going into next season.

I don't pretend to have the slightest clue which it'll be; I'm just waiting for news like everyone else.

Certainly cheaper than therapy I guess...I prefer to hit the bottle.

Well, to clarify, I don't think that any one person in particular has a conscious desire to watch everything fall apart, but some people enjoy the validation they feel when something happens to make them feel like an expert. Some people, because they criticize Capel so much, things have to turn out as bad as they say they are in order to feel good about their basketball IQ.

In the back of their mind, when things go from bad to worse, they get to say "I told you so." Discussion of sports is all about knowing what you are talking about, and on here you'll get called out if you don't. So, they can spew negative crap all day long, then keep repeating the same stuff over and over (read above posts for an example of this), then they feel validated in having an opinion.

If a person is trashing Capel over and over again, he has to leave (see, I told you he sucked, he's leaving us) or be fired (see I told you he sucked, he's fired), or just have a crappy season (see, I told you he sucked, we suck).

I'm no sunshine pumper, but I'm not gonna write over and over again how we need defense, or we need to play as a team more, or we need less prima donnas, or Tiny or TMG or Willie or Capel is the problem, or Cade is the Great White Hope because he doesn't hate playing for OU, or all that other kneejerk, poorly thought out crap. Not that I haven't thought some of that stuff, but what good does repeating it here do me?

Oh yeah, I forgot. It does my total post count good.

are you saying that Calaway and SoonerfanTU are the same person?

I'm sorry I don't have enough posts to be taken seriously. I'll keep beating dead horses until my post count commands your respect. Oh yeah, I've been lurking since OU Hoops started this board because the OU Insider board was so full of BS. I didn't register because I preferred reading for the last 2 years and didn't feel the need, and as I recall at first you could read threads without logging in. It most definitely was not calm around here last season.

And, it seems people are missing the point. It's not that it's negative. It's the same crap, over and over that gets old. Reminds me of some dork calling the Sports Animal saying, "The Sooners need to put more points on the board if they want to win games. They have to play defense. Capel needs to..."

....blah freaking blah blah. All I'm saying is at least find some new negative crap to write. It's almost cut and paste redundancy.

So, I was just b*tching about the person who was b*tching about my b*tching about too much monotonous b*tching? Whoa!

And I am in full agreement on the positivite tip. Hopefully some new blood can come in and we'll have something positive to say. Some of us, anyways.

Calaway's last couple of posts have been things of beauty. Hit the nail on the head. If someone doesn't like them, the posts probably hit a little close to home.

The naysayers want to talk about how anyone could possibly draw any positives out of the state of this program. My question to them would be...Aren't fans of a team supposed to SUPPORT their team? I don't mind people pointing out the negatives, but SOME do nothing but post negativity. THAT'S when it gets old.

definitely not TU, way too smart

Fair enough, but what good does cheerleading and unfounded optimism do just at the moment, either? I'm generally a positive fan, as many will attest (though I may not strike recent arrivals as such), but right now, I don't have much sunshine to pump. I'm just waiting to see what's coming.

I guess we could just all stop posting until there's concrete news in some of the areas I cited above.

then what good is a message board for? Are we supposed to make up good stuff? Go ala Texas A&M football messageboard for the last 10 years?

I do not really agree with too much of what calaway has said in this thread, but I have to say that the post count criticism is incredibly lame. His or her argument can either stand on it's merits or it can't. Dismissing someone because of their post counts is just a lazy way to marginalize what they are saying.

Ok, I'll try this another way. If you were talking with someone about the weather, let's say, and they said, "Man, it sure is windy."

And you started talking about the volcano and planes and they said "Yeah, but it's really windy."

And you said well, it's a snowy day today, and they said, "Snowy but windy."

And this went on for 3 months, wouldn't you want them to talk about the rain at least?

It's not a positive or negative thing, it's the same negative points made time and time again.

If we were good last year, and someone only talked about Fitzgerald's sweet midrange baseline jumper, after months, wouldn't you like to hear about his blocking out or something, even though that jumper does look nice?:fitz

Feeling redundant myself here. I'll let it drop. Sorry if I bothered anyone. I promise I won't get on here for the next 3 months over and over again telling people to stop complaining about the same thing.

YOU have nothing to apologize for
