Pretty much my two favorite things in the world colliding? You bet I did. Did you see HIMYM tonight? Not my favorite episode, though not terrible.

Did you see Wolf Blitzer on celebrity jeopardy? He finished in the negative and Andy Richter dominated him.

HIMYM was ok. It felt like a filler episode, though I want to use the "Drunk or a Kid" game in real life.

I missed that episode of Jeopardy. I would have enjoyed seeing Andy Richter dominate Wolf Blitzer. He's so smug.

I will play "Drunk or a Kid" in real life with you, boksooner. Meet me at the Tulsa Oktoberfest in October.

Right, but if he would have spoken earlier it wouldn't have festered so much.
That's just my opinion.
And based on what I saw on the court this season and the complete utter mess this off-season I have to disagree that Coach knows exactly what's going on. I think he's finally starting to figure it out so he's comfortable to talk about it now. I don't think he had a clue about what was going on in the heads of WW, TMG, Tiny and others. He even alluded to the fact in the video.
I'm not going to be a naysayer, I'm behind Coach Capel, but I do think the naysayers have a strong case. I'm concerned about whether or not Coach can handle this situation. I'm behind him but very concerned about this upcoming season. I don't see how anyone couldn't be.

Done and done.

PS When are we arranging Trivial Pursuit night? Stevo and Champ have expressed interest in getting dominated by me in this game. You are welcome to also be dominated.

I can't discuss this any further because the moderator soonersam has told us not to get too off topic. Back to the real subject of this thread: What kind of pie do you like?

I think Calaway said it best. It's not the complaining, it's complaining about the same thing OVER AND OVER AND OVER. The same posters found negative slants a year ago while we were playing in the NCAA tourney and subsequently heading to the elite eight.

Let's put it this way. They SAME posters have said Capel can't coach since his first year. Every year he's pretty much proven them wrong. Now, in the year he, admittedly, does a bad job in many areas AND has all the right things go wrong. They naysayers want to overlook the "perfect storm" of player issues and simply blame Capel for ALL OF IT. Not to mention, most of them really want him fired, but stop short of saying that so they appear to be "good fans".

NEWSFLASH to all the posters that say he did a bad job of evaluating players (mainly the burger boys) ----------- EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY RECRUITED THOSE PLAYERS!!!!

Your wrong. Capel did a poor job his first year and his second year was by no means a great coaching job. The talent his first year was good enough to make the NCAA or at least the NIT...we did neither. The 2nd year, how do you explain so many double-digit losses? 2 of our last 3 games were 30 point losses on a neutral court?

As far as your last point "everybody in the country recruited those players", so if everybody else is jumping off a bridge, does that mean you are going to do it too?

Not to compare to football, but I can't find a better comparison...how many players does Stoops recruit "because everybody else is recruiting them"? What about the Teddy Lehman's and Dan Cody's who nobody recruited until OU? Why does Capel have to depend on other coaches to find his talent? Why can't he find it himself? Isn't this the same thing we've ripped on Mack Brown about for the last 10 years? That he only recruits who the recruiting guru's rank as the top recruits?

How could he be wrong when it his OPINION? So, your opinion = FACT?

While I disagree with your opinion; what can Capel do about those years now? And what relevance do they have to his situation now? I mean, he did get a big fat raise and a contract extension AFTER those two years, so apparently, the guys making the decisions at OU disagree with your assessment. I guess my point is, what happened three or four years ago has very little relevance to the here and now; however, if they are relevant, then I'd say that we were playing in the Elite Eight a little over a year ago is even more relevant. The guy had a bad season that has been exacerbated by early draft entries. That's it. He'll either get the program past it, or he'll be terminated, but until now and then, what purpose does it serve beating the hell out of the guy and the program?

The "your wrong" part was to his point that "the same posters"...that's where he is wrong.

I supported Capel his first 3 years. I didn't like the fact Castiglione handed a good program to an unproven coach, but I supported him.

I'm not the one who brought up his first 3 years, Klegg did when he said "Capel proved them wrong every year". No, he didn't. He did not do a good coaching job his first 2 years. I'd say mediocre, but not good. Both teams were better than the results indicated.

He didn't get a "big fat raise" until after year 3. After year 1 and 2 those were minimal bumps.

But Years 1 and 2 were obviously taken into account by whoever is signing the checks. Your opinion is that he didn't do a good job in Years 1 and 2, I'm just pointing out that he got a big fat raise in Year 3...so whomever is making the decisions at OU disagrees with your opinion. Like I said, according to his pay raises, the administration believes that he has had one bad year, last year.

I think Jeff did a good job his 2nd year. First year could have been a little better.

Waffle much?

No, you said:

So, which is it?

It is a pretty simple concept: After coaching at the University of Oklahoma for three (3) years, Jeff Capel got a huge raise, his performance in years one and two were obviously taken into account in the raise he received. If you want to say that he didn't earn his money last season, I'd completely agree with you, but his performance in year one and two were obviously satisfactory to the administration; accordingly, to them he's had one bad season, not three as you suggest.
