Off-season worries have started to subside

Not that it really matters, but only one of the games has been a 20 point win.

The big 12 is a totally different animal. Remember how amazing we were in the non conference last year? And how we fell off in conference play?

I do remember. That’s why I’m “cautiously optimistic” that what we’re seeing will continue. Still, I think there are plenty of reasons to be pleased with this team’s performance so far.

The difference between this year and last year is defense. Last years team was bad on D, and Trae was one of the biggest culprits. We arent going to finish 3rd, but we could finish 6th and make the tournament.

BTW - I am not saying we'll be top 4 in the conference. I am merely saying I could actually see it happening. We at least look competent enough that I could envision success. Thats all I am saying.

I figure 5th or 6th and a shot at the ncaa's.

Fair enough.... But there were still guys right in front of the them that would have improved the top 7-8 and made guys who are bigger contributors now have less of a role, which improves you as a team top to bottom.

OU is a fringe NCAA Tournament team, most likely. Sure, the 11th and 12th guys don't play but that assumes the top 7-8 was as strong as it should be, and it could have been but there was some dead weight on the roster.

abd, just about every college roster in America has dead weight. It's just the way it is. Every coach in America could say to the effect: "Why did I take this guy when I could have had that guy?" You think Bill Self doesn't regret not pursuing Buddy Hield as feverishly as Lon Kruger did? That stuff simply happens everywhere. Also, we don't know how much Polla and Lazenby are helping in practice. Remember a couple years back when Lon asked CJ Cole to be part of the team his senior year? It certainly wasn't for his on-the-court contributions.

The guys I am referencing wanted to come to OU, would have helped the team dramatically, and weren't able to. These aren't hypothetical players. They were right in the backyard and wanted to come to OU, and both would be significant contributors.

What guys are you actually "referencing"? I don't see it is this thread.
