Things must really be bad in Stillwater.
Normally when there are mass defection there are major problems! O-State don't need NCAA problems! I hope it's just disgruntle player's and parents.

This is getting crazy.
March 27 - Brianne Coffman transferring. (Committed to Houston)
April 2 - Twitter reports an OSU Assistant Coach Opening. (Richie Henderson removed from okstate.com roster)
April 4 - Amber Ramirez decommits.
April 10 - Roshunda Johnson announces she is not returning.
April 11 - Brittany Atkins announces she is not returning.
April 14 - Lakota Beatty announces she is not returning.
That is some major news to be going on in 2.5 weeks. And there will probably be more to come.
It doesn't seem to be a pending penalty from the APR as OSU has been above the benchmark (and improving) since the 2009-2010 season. There was only 1 defection from last year's team (2013-2014) I believe, Marisha Wallace. That would not be enough to drop the score below penalty levels.
This makes 4 of the top 5 (5 of top 7) scorers from this year's team that will not be returning due to graduation or transfers.

I hate to see this. I always want the Sooners to beat the Cowgirls but, I do want to see them competitive and if they beat all of the other teams they play, that's good.

Hard to say it is style of play when he has been the head coach for 4 years. And all of these players have been there for two years now. If it was style of play, I would guess you would want out after year 1. His style of play has been the same since he took over.

There's a strong rumor that sophomore guard Courtney Chelf has also left the team. She's the little sister of former OSU quarterback Clint Chelf.
That leaves the Cowgirls with a 2015-16 roster of:

If none had transferred he would have had a roster of 16. Is this a case of him signing too many and telling some of the current team to hit the road?

They did over-sign in November. Chelf was a late addition, and was rumored to be on a year-to-year scholarship with the understanding that if recruited over would not have a scholarship the next year.
Take that with a grain of salt as I do not know that to be true. But Chelf is a popular name around OSU and would not surprise me if they did offer her a scholarship based on the family name.
I don't think they told 2 starters and a normal reserve to hit the road though.

It would appear he knew some were leaving - or perhaps they laid down some kind of ultimatum and he forced them to leave. Whatever he must have had some idea it was coming or he would not have over signed in the first place.
Could it be it was an error (over signing)?
Very strange no matter what is the case.

I think the over signing was done in November with the idea that Chelf, basically a glorified walk-on, would not return for her junior season.
I think the departures of guards Johnson, Atkins and Beatty (and the decommittment of Ramirez) were likely influenced by the loss of assistant coach Richie Henderson. Henderson coached the guard position and recruited.

O-State2009, do you think Hobbs from Alva will stay committed? She will be a super college player IMO.

I watched her on TV the other night on a replay of when Alva played Preston. I liked what I saw of her game.

I hope so. I can't say for sure though. I am not sure what other offers she has at the moment. But she is playing AAU ball this year from my understanding. Also not sure if Henderson was her primary recruiter. I know Littell was at most of her State Tournament games.
It is definitely a hold-your-breath time from a fan's perspective. Looking at the current roster & signees, she would very likely be OSU's starting PG as a freshman.
Hopefully they can get a good recruiter with their new assistant coach hire, and hopefully that news comes out soon since the recruiting season starts next week.

I respect your opinion Norm, but I am not as accommodating to our Stillwater friends. I'd like to see them discontinue all sports for lack of competitiveness.

Okay, not all their sports are not competitive and if OU had been allowed to do that in 94?, the this board would not exist. Also, it helps the Big 12 for them to compete, it helps the state of Oklahoma and OU. I guess OU's recruiting might be a little better without Ostate athletics but that really isn't a reason to discontinue them. I have to think you are being facetious, sarcastic?
Plus, if you live in Ok you have friends and family members who have gone or go there or will go there.
