Okay, so who is Plan B?

If it is Evans, why hasn't he been hired yet?

Maybe Joe C is just working his way through things to see if he can make the big splash and if not come back to Terry Evans. Never know.

Nothing against Terry Evans but that would be huge reach.

After watching Shaka coach throughout this tourney, I have moved him to my #2 behind buzz which means he is now #1 by default. We need a coach that has that type of energy!! Capel would stomp his feet around then sit down. Stomp his feet around, then sit down and put his hands in his face. Even when we were playing good, he wasn't as active on the sideline as Smart.

Billy Tubbs is on the Lamar search committee Evans is a finalist for that job (Lamar is WAC bound)

No it's not.

Then who is? Ga Tech? They're close but OU is a better basketball job.

NC State? Hate to tell you but that one is awful. Almost as bad as Tennessee.

right now it is:
OU
Ga Tech
Mizzou
NC State

North Carolina State
Oklahoma
Missouri
Georgia Tech
Utah

What makes Oklahoma better than any of those openings?

Why do people continue to say North Carolina State is a great job? They haven't made the final 4 since 1983. They've gone to 1 sweet sixteen in the last 21 years. You have to compete with Duke and North Carolina. It's not that great of a job. Hell I'd put Missouri AND OU above NC State.

Why is NCSU better than OU?

They're willing to offer up to $3 million in coaching salary
2 championships
Better arena
Better conference
Attendance
Revenue
Not facing NCAA sanctions
etc, etc

What makes Oklahoma better than any of those openings?

Facilities
Resources
Close to fertile recruiting area
Administration

I could probably name more if you held a gun to my head.

Ga Tech is a horrible job. It's the worst job in the ACC and they don't have any money, so they won't be able to match the big salaries that bigger/better programs can offer.

if someone put NC STate at the top then they know little about college basketball. NC State is widely accepted among college coaches as a horrid HC job.

NC State is a place where you go to get paid for 4-5 years and then get run off.

Mizzou's facilities match anything OU has to offer.

Mizzou's willing to go over $2,000,000 for the right coach (rumored offer of at least $2.5M to Painter).

Fertile recruiting areas are all over the place. St. Louis and KC put out quite a bit of talent, for example.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by administration. Are you talking about the AD who hired a guy completely off the radar, gave him a big raise and extension three years in, then fired him two years later? Sounds like a guy who knows what he's doing...

One thing notably absent from your list: current shape of the actual program, both in terms of talent and NCAA issues.

This is what I'm alluding to, not 1988, 2011. The Oklahoma program is in dire straits compared to NCSU and even Mizzou. I've seen Sooner fans say in the last two days that the OU gig is better than Louisville and Marquette as well. I'll be called "an aggie" or something, but I'm a realist.
