*****Oklahoma-Cincinnati Game Thread*****

Aaaand here we go with the sunshine crowd squelching anyone that doesn't toe the company f*cking line. More of the same from the Capel era. All is well, nothing to see here, move along.

No, you haven't read anything I posted. As Coach Kruger said, the team didn't show the toughness they needed to down the stretch, too many Cincy offensive rebounds and couldn't get the key stops down the stretch. They lost their composure. I completely agree with every word of that.

Calling someone a sunshine pumper just because they disagree with you won't win many arguments.

No offense, but that's a crock of s**t. As long as we have that mindset we're not going anywhere.

I don't believe that the message board poster's mindset has much of anything to do with where the team goes.

I understand being upset, but I don't understand acting like the team was high fivin' and experiencing Nirvana because they played it close......

I certainly hope you're right. I'm just tired of the "at least we didn't get blown out" mindset. Man, Oklahoma basketball used to be something. We used to be a tough "out" for anyone, anytime, anywhere. It sickens me to see this "moral victory" mindset on here. I'm tired of "learning experiences". Time to start closing out these freaking games and getting a W.

And just about every one of those OU teams that you just described lost a game to a team with less talent than the Cincy team we lost to tonight.

It happens. LK will use it as a teaching tool.

We have depth at certain positions but not at others. We are very short of good ball handlers.

Oh, I agree we don't have a ton of depth, but depth should have been an advantage tonight. We also lack size, but when the other team played no one above 6'5" at times, it isn't to blame.

What the!!!!!!! WT, BOB, and Jerry in one night. I gotta play the lottery!!!!!!:D:D

You said what I was trying to say, but you did it better and easier, with alot less words.:clap

I don't see many happy with how things went down tonight. It's only one game though. It is a learning experience with a new coach. OU wouldn't have this problem if the previous coach wasn't such a boob. Toughness is gonna be a work in progress.

I haven't seen anything to indicate that the team or coaches has that mindset. To expect a team to completely reverse their fortunes in one season is unrealistic. This team has some holes physically and mentally. They are much improved over last year, but anyone who expects a fine tuned machine in every game is going to end up disappointed.

The Bearcats shot less than 28% and end up with the victory.

Not only did they shoot only 27.9% from the field they lost the board battle 43-35. But then when you lose the turnover batte by 10 17 vs 7 you realize how week we are at the guard position once the conference starts.

Right now Cameron Clark is not stepping up and carrying his load. 0-7 from the field for zero points and only 2 rebounds against a team with a 4 guard lineup.

Quite frankly, no player on our roster knows how to win close games on the road against solid D-1 caliber competition. They don't really understand the intensity and toughness necessary to grind out a W because they've never been in that position before at OU.

I know fans don't want to hear it, but this game was a learning experience. That's not pumping sunshine or making excuses, but it's a fact. The guys will learn from this game and will better know how to win these games physically, mentally and emotionally.

It always hurts to lose, but that experience will help down the stretch this year and next.

Sure would have been great to win it and still use the lat 5 minutes as a learning experience

You gotta be in some situations like this before you can learn to excel. Most of our losses last yr were decided long before the last few minutes.....

Okay from now on I expect us to close out close games, since this was our "learning experience". I'll look forward to that.

I really respect you as a poster senior, but these posts are borderline ridiculous.

Why? Because I'm calling us out for blowing a road game against an average opponent? Because I won't fall in line and spew the same "learning experience" talking points? Call me ridiculous, then.

My point is this: if we're going to chalk this up as a "learning experience", I want to see different results the next time we're in a similar situation. Otherwise we obviously didn't "learn" anything.

We'll see how they respond in the next tight game. Tonight's outcome doesn't automatically guarantee a loss.

Why was Cincy an average opponent? They're 10-3 this season, and we're 9-4. The suspensions? Well, they've clearly adjusted pretty well following that incident.

We were on the road, in an arena in which they'd won 16 straight, and they got a major boost from the officials. I'm as disappointed as anyone, but I feared a much worse loss than this one tonight. I'm frustrated because it was there for the taking, but it's nothing to melt down over.

And your suggestion that we're now not allowed to lose a tough road game the rest of the season or it shows we haven't "learned our lessons" from this defeat are silly, with all due respect. A team doesn't get better like an on/off switch. It happens gradually.

Because you're expecting a team with serious roster deficiencies and absolutely no experience competing in tight road games to be perfect from now on. Yes, tonight was a learning experience. No, that does not mean we are going to win every close game from here on out.

Remember how many leads OU football blew in 1999? We lead in every single game we lost. You don't think those games didn't prove to be learning experiences in 2000 at A&M? In Stillwater? If you don't, you're just ignoring reality.

Yes, we blew a road game against an "average" opponent tonight. It's certainly not the first time that has happened in college basketball history. If this team had significant experience in these situations, and also had players who could create off the dribble and get to the rim at crunch time and they were still losing close games, then I might be concerned. But not now.

Excellence, as usual.

It's pretty funny to watch those that crucified Capel teams now line up to make excuse after excuse for Kruger teams.
