By The Associated Press
Published: May 18, 2009
The Oklahoma House has honored the life of former Oklahoma and NBA star Wayman Tisdale with a resolution that acknowledges his accomplishments.
The House adopted the resolution on Monday. It's author, Rep. Jabar Shumate of Tulsa, moved that all House members be made co-authors.
Tisdale died Friday in his hometown of Tulsa following a two-year battle with cancer. He was 44.
A public memorial service is scheduled on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the BOK Center in Tulsa.
Tisdale was a three-time All-American for Oklahoma in the mid-1980s before playing 12 seasons in the NBA with Indiana, Phoenix and Sacramento. He was also a talented musician.
The resolution directs that a copy of it be distributed to Tisdale's widow, Regina Tisdale.
