osu baylor

I think people were just surprised and knocking us because we were picked to win the Big 12 and were the highest ranked the start the season. We aren't even halfway through conference play yet.

UConn had 15 turnovers against Baylor. Oklahoma State had 18. Not a big difference there.

The game just looked like a good game between two teams at the top of a competitive league. The reason both teams looked poor offensively is because they are both great defensive teams. Tiffany Bias is probably the only PG that keep up with Odyssey Sims, and they held her to half of what she averages typically. Less than when she scored against UConn. I'd say that is pretty impressive.

Defense didn't win the game for either team. The inability to do anything offensively was not due to defense. You don't defend the free throw line, and they couldn't hit those either.

Very strange game to watch. If not for the clock issue, OSU probably wins in regulation. With slightly over 10 seconds left,Sutton made a poor decision at the end of OT to shoot the 3. Worst case they should have played another OT period.

Defense is a huge part of every game. Missing free throws does not tell us anything about the defensive aspect of the game.

The final offensive possession was wasted. No reason not to run your offense when the score is tied and there is a 7 second differential between shot and game clock. Suttles took a contested 3, but had to with time winding down. The poor decision was made by a freshman trying to tap the rebound out. That led to the fast break layup by Sims. Even if BU gets the rebound under the basket with 8 seconds left, they have to drive the length of the floor and try to score against a set defense.

Free throws are pretty much a mental thing. I agree with Brenda VanLengen when she talked about how frustrated Bias and Sims looked at times in the game because of how they weren't able to get into an offensive rhythm. The defense got to them both mentally. It shouldn't be an excuse as a senior but considering Bias and Sims are both really good free throw shooters, I would say they both suffered from it.

Well, guess I disagree she had to take the 3. She had success during the game taking the ball to the hole. At worst the OT end tied and at best she makes a short shot or wins it at the line. Appeared as though maybe the pressure got to her.

A win is a win and in this conference nothing is a given, so I'll take it!! Both teams are sound defensively resulting in poor overall shooting. We have always had difficulties at the FT line and I agree that it is 100% mental. Sims and Bias were both struggling offensively so of course they were off at the line too and it is hard to calm yourself down after running all over the court defending each other.

Personally, I really enjoy the games this year (even with the frustrations of a young team) because they are gonna be close and exciting. Last year was not fun for me when the game was over by halftime. I'm a fan of good competition and games going down to the wire and even though we lose it's was exciting. Last year the only thing that was somewhat exciting was to see if BG was gonna dunk and that is pretty lame. This year so far is awesome and will only get better as our tough games are coming up with UT on Sat and then traveling to Norman on Big Monday!! Sic'em!!
