OSU Board: Obi Muonelo or Taylor Griffin?

Taylor Griffin is a world class athlete, which is why he got drafted. Obi Muenolo is a pretty poor athlete, im pretty sure he cant even dunk, and is a streaky shooter who cant play any defense.

In 4 years I never saw Obi Muenolo dunk a basketball. He is weak.

Been lurking over there recently, they have been posting stuff from here over there. Now the circle is complete, this is either a sign of summer boredom or a board merger is imminent.

I'm going to go start a thread over there about this thread being about that thread.

What I love is when one can't think of something good to say, they bring in another derogatory comment about the mother.

And why is Taylor Griffin on an NBA roster? He's ripped like a machine, he hustles, he plays defense, and he's a good guy to bang around the superstars in practice.

Obi Muonelo is a non-athletic shooting guard who will occasionally make five threes in a game then disappear for the next five games.

It's not that hard to figure out.

Yeah, I posted on that thread. When I saw the site about the kid from Claremore committing to OSU, I went over to see what they said about it and none of them knew. Then I started reading their basketball posts and alot of them have alot of the subjects we talk about. One of the guys their said he reads this board and that this is a good board. you'll be suprised at the amount of info they get from us. I think one of the statements I made about Obi is that he's a poor man's version of Willie Warren. Then some of them went to the old "thug" comments, started saying Najera has played 10 years because he a paid thug......

I go to orangepower for the occassional laugh. Here and there they will have a good discussion but it almost always goes to the extreme pro OSU which is to be expected on an OSU board, but any thought that differentiates from the norm gets shot down immediately.. Not many very level headed posters over on orangepower.

I like Obi as a player, but it's pretty easy to see how Taylor's game transfers to his role in the NBA. He is an elite level athlete with a high motor, there are dozens of players like Obi coming out college every year.

I think Camp and Big hit it on the head. Taylor is a world class athlete and Obi isn't. Taylor is also 2-3 inches taller than Obi. I have stood right next to both. I'm not sure what the programs say, but Taylor is definately taller.

However, I disagree with anyone that says Obi is and/or was not a good player. He certain is and was a good college player. I would have loved to have him at OU and wanted OU to get him when he was in high school.

Don't be suprised if Taylor makes a pretty good career out of the NBA. This is certainly in doubt at the moment, although he is hanging in there. He can defend on the wing, bang in the post against anyone near his height, he accepts the NBA minimum in pay and doesn't have an ego. He is a good citizen and a team player. He is unbelievably tough. The NBA guys love all of this stuff. He is limited offensively and that is his biggest weakness. But, somebody, not making much money, has to be at the end of the bench and he fits that role perfectly. If the suns ever let him go, don't be suprised to see him picked up quickly. I would love to see him go to the Thunder.

Obi never dunked at OSU as far as I know. He didn't even try to after his leg injury his Freshman year. I enjoyed having Obi at OSU, solid 4 year player, unique personality, but he's not an NBA guy.

Also I think Taylor may be a lot like Stephen Graham. Overshadowed by his brother in college yet has a nice NBA career.

And by "some" you mean one guy.

I don't know if you noticed, but most of the OSU fans posting in the thread disagreed with the OP's ridiculous notion.

Just sayin'

Remember when the ninja turtle stepped out of bounds? classic.

Weird that Taylor was a 3* and Obi was a 5* with such a total disparity in athletic ability in favor of Taylor. Not slamming Obi, but it isn't like Taylor made a huge leap athletically over his four years at OU or anything. What was so special about Obi at the time that made him such a highly thought of recruit?

Don't know if you remember, but Obi broke his leg his freshman year at OSU about 10 or so games into his college career, and never was the same athletically.

He went from a Willie Warren type player, to an underathletic (for Big XII basketball) guy, that learned to shoot very well (led the Big XII in three point shooting) and built up his body enough to play the 4 in the Big XII.

He was never as athletic as Willie, and breaking your leg does pretty much nothing in terms of changing your athletic ability. Breaking a bone is the best injury you can have in sports, really.

Obi was never a good athlete for a D-1 player...

Depends on how bad of a break and how you recover from it. Yes in general breaking a bone isn't that bad but this isn't a math problem where the results are a constant.

His lateral quickness was hampered quite a bit. Look at some high school videos of him, completely different player. Made it so he couldn't guard other guards.

Obi was a lot more skilled coming out of high school. Obi had offers from OSU, OU, Kansas, Texas, Illinois, Florida, and Arizona where OU was the only big school who offered Taylor. Just because you can run and jump doesn't make you a great player. Taylor really improved over his 4 years and his athletic ablity allowed him to play a little in the NBA. Obi's lack of athlitic ablity didn't allow him to progress as much as some players.

Obi was a better college player. Taylor is a better NBA player.
