Conventional thinking by who?
Missouri has a minimum of two scholarships (three if the NCAA will ever officially declare Mitchell ineligible).
McLemore's a 2 and Porter's a combo forward. They're in no way competing for a scholarship with Missouri. Both have had offers for quite some time.
For what it's worth, though, Porter's actually ranked higher in ESPN's new rankings. Guess McLemore hasn't impressed much at Oak Hill this year.
It'll be interesting to see if OU can get seriously involved. His recruitment has been very odd. With no AAU play and little contact with people outside that corner of the state, plus the intentional delay until the late signing period, it's next to impossible to get a read on him. A lot of people think he more or less knows what he wants to do and just is waiting until he's done with high school basketball. But I wouldn't be shocked if he hasn't even given it serious consideration. I think anyone could still get in and win him over with the right approach.
The kid looks to me like a perfect fit for Mike Anderson's style of basketball. Since he's from Missouri, I'd be shocked if he's not in gold and black next year.
So, I'm with the crowd that says go after the local products at positions of need.
