OU and OSU: The new Nebraska and Colorado?

Yep, OU looks JUST LIKE those CU and NU teams. Have a couple of players, hang around, make you think they are one or two steps away from being good. BUT, they lose.

With the rise of Baylor, K-State, Iowa State, and until this year A&M, it seems like OU, OSU, and Tech are being pushed down. Now you get rid of A&M while they are slipping and add West Virginia (17-10, Bob Huggins) and the league gets even better.

The Big 12 is actually replacing a down A&M team with an even worse TCU team. West Virginia replaces Missouri (a much better team this year). kansas will lose Robinson and Taylor, so they will likely be worse. Baylor will lose some talent. The Big 12 as a whole will likely be worse next year than it is this year.

I'm done thinking about who Kansas is losing, it never seems to matter.

I thought this was one of abd's better trolls. Grouping in OSU to get extra fights was genius, but it hasn't quite panned out yet. There's still time though.

It doesn't matter who Kansas loses...they always have someone stepping in that could be a potential POY. No one thought they could be better than last year after losing the Morris twins and Selby but they are. And next year they return 3 starters and add 2 redshirt players and some talented freshmen. Baylor will be better next year or at least the same as this years squad. They add a top 5 player, the Morgan kid will be back...I believe Miller will return and they still have Jackson and Heslip.

But ISU, TEX, KU, Bay, W.V., OU, OSU, T.T. and K-ST will all be better next season. ISU, TEX, KU, BAY, OSU, K-ST, and OU all have teams that could be ranked in the top 25 next year so expect this conference to be even tougher next season.

I'll be optimistic when a bunch of talent gets signed and produces.
Til then, show me.
As good a rep that Kruger has, he won't last past 3 years if things don't get going. The OU fan base or what is left of it will not stand for a Northwestern type program that gets close to the NCAAs each year but ends up in the NIT year after year.

I'll let you tell me who kansas' POY candidate will be next year.

Can you honestly tell me that you thought Robinson who avg 13 min/g, 7.6 pts/g and 6.3 r/g would be one of the top 3 candidates for POY this season...if you answer yes, then you are completely full of it.

I didn't see him being as good as he is, but his talent was hardly hidden. Plenty of people thought that had he come out last year he would have been drafted higher than either Morris. He'd shown flashes of the ability to be a dominant college player.

Johnson? Releford? Not so much. I could see Whitey putting up numbers similar to Aldrich's last year at kansas. No one else on their roster has done anything worth mentioning. They will have a couple newcomers (both freshmen and redshirt freshmen) who will have plenty of opportunity, but expecting them to be all-conference types right from the start is a pretty big stretch.

I don't have a magic 8 ball so I'm not going to predict who will be all conference but Releford, Johnson, McClemore, and Withey is a good solid foundation moving forward to next year.

A solid foundation, sure. But also a huge step back from what kansas has grown used to. They'll still be good and still challenge for a conference title, but I doubt they'll be anywhere near as strong as some of their recent teams.

I doubt there will be a whole lot of separation between 1 and 8 next year in the Big 12. Tech and TCU will be the only two genuinely bad teams.

I guess you could make an argument that more competition in the middle could make the conference "better," but that's no an argument I'd buy. The new additions (TCU and WVU) definitely won't be upgrades over the teams they're replacing (based on where the teams are now).

Personally, I don't see how ISU, WVU, KU and Baylor are better next year.

ISU loses two of its top three scorers. I would suspect White returns because I don't think his game translates to the NBA but I am usually wrong about who will and will not succeed in the NBA.

KU loses Taylor, Robinson, and Teahan. Teahan plays 20 minutes a game and is the number one bench player on KU. I don't see them being better but I do agree they always have talent.

WVU loses its top two players including a 20 ppg and 10 rpg forward. Those are incredible numbers and not easily replaced.

Baylor loses Anthony Jones, Quincy Acey and probably Perry Jones. That is the front line of that team. I don't see how they are better next season and they really are not that great this year. They are simply more talented than a lot of teams.

OSU loses Page but adds Smart and some other kids. I can see them being better but Page is a loss.

Tech is horrible and it doesn't matter if they are better or not.

KSU loses Samuels and got swept by OU this year. They might be better but that is a key loss and OU does not have a key loss this year.

TCU is not good.

Texas will lose Wagmene and Chapman and could lose someone else (but I don't see it happening). I think Texas will be a better basketball team next season.

It is a shame Missouri is leaving because they are going to be a shell of what they are this year. I don't care what they have coming in or on the bench you can't lose as much as Missouri is going to lose and be as good.

I agree Mizzou won't likely be a top 5 team again next year. But I still expect a top 15 team in Columbia. We lose a lot, but we also return arguably the best point guard tandem in the nation. Replacing the production of English, Denmon and Ratliffe will be virtually impossible, but I see no reason why our incoming recruits/transfers can't have an impact similar to Hoiberg's group at ISU.

hopefully miller leaves this year along with jones. wvu has a ton of highly thought of freshmen, they lose jones, but they should be better next year even so.

I don't see it. I think Missouri will be a tournament team but I don't see them as a Top 15 team. They not only lose three starters, they also lose their 6th man. That means four new players have to step up in a major way. Just my opinion and you could be right because good guard play goes a long way in college basketball but I really think Missouri is going to be significantly less of a team, like 22-8. I also think the new road trips are going to cause some problems. Perhaps I am wrong about that but I just think playing in a familiar setting is easier than somewhere you have never been.

Our sixth man isn't going anywhere... except maybe into our starting lineup.

Florida and Wisconsin are 14/15 in the current AP rankings, and both were 19-6 at the beginning of the week. I don't think a 22-8 type season would really be that far off what I expect.

ISU maybe losing to top scorers but they are bringing in Lucious who might just be the best PG in the big 12 next year to go along with White and McGee. And that should make them very dangerous.

KU will be solid...are they losing solid players..yes...but they do it every year and they bounce back every year. They will still be a top 15 team.

W.V. will be way better next year even though their losing their top 2 scorers. They are a very young team and he has 2 solid contributors redshirting this year and Kilicli and Hinds coming back will help them out a lot.

Baylor will be just as good or even better next year. If Miller comes back, he will most likely be one of the best players in the country not too mention that they are bringing in some solid recruits. Pierre Jackson, Heslip, Morgan, Jefferson, Bello, Franklin, and Walton returns so they will still have the inside and outside presence and just as much height as before.

OSU will be a top 25 team next year w/o Page.

Tech and TCU sucks.

K-ST is only losing Samuels so they should be pretty good since McGruder is returning.

Texas will be back in the top 25 next year. They return everyone that really matters and they are adding some solid recruits including a talented center.

You are looking at atleast 6 teams being ranked before the big 12 conference starts.

I am not saying these teams will suck, I just don't think they will be better next season and I think OU will be better. In fact I am positive OU will be better because OU doesn't lose anyone in the top 7
