Again, we get our fill of some bad luck. Their little PG Harper (who had some ridiculous flops btw) came into the game shooting barely over 60% from the FT line, yet makes 11/12 against us for a ridiculous 92%!

I know...it's part of the game...but a couple of the fouls called that put him on the line were very weak. If he shoots his season %, there's 4 points right there that goes away (assuming they don't get the offensive reb, etc.).

We just haven't had the ball bounce our way recently. Just tough to swallow after all the success we have had the past few years! This team has some very good pieces, and will continue to improve. We really need a guy like Trae Young to take control of this team. He is the missing piece imo. He will take tremendous pressure off some of the current guys and allow them to do their thing...knowing they have a go-to guy to count on at times.

Odomes continues to gain confidence and can take control at times. If he could add a consistent 3-pt shot to his arsenal....he would be a very tough match-up. With Young, Odomes, James, McGusty, Shepard...those are some very talented guards/wings. They will allow Lattin, Doolittle, McNease, Freeman, Buford, etc. to have more opportunities w/o other teams being able to crowd the middle. If teams have to come out and guard guys like Odomes and respect his outisde shot...it will open up more space inside. Young will tremendously stretch the defense. I just think he would have such a HUGE impact on this team with his range. I'm sure he realizes this....and can see the potential of this team with him part of it.

Agree with almost everything you posted, cvangild. It does seem like weak FT shooters tend to shoot their career high against us. And you're right about Odomes' ability to take control at times. But I would add that he also needs to practice nonstop on shooting free throws – if he hits all or most of his free throws against Auburn, we likely win that game. This team is very close to being able to compete with/defeat any team.

On another note: I'm surprised that no one else has agreed that Jordan Woodward is absolutely the best player on our team. I have no doubt that with a healthy Woodward in the lineup, we would have beaten Auburn soundly.
