OU-Bradley

Tonight we shoot 59% from the field and 41% from BTA. Those are unreal stats!

Improvements I've seen so far:

1. When we get a defensive rebound, we look to move downcourt quickly. This is opening up scoring opportunities and it puts pressure on the defense.

2. Our passing has been 100% better.

3. We make the extra pass.

4. We are actually making our chippies.

5. Our depth is much proved.

I credit Ortiz first because she sets the tone for everything we do. The others feed off what she starts. Her supporting cast is playing well. Now, if we can play like this against really good competition, we will have a very good year.

That was a fun game to watch. It will be interesting to see how they do at the Paradise Jam Tournament.

Actually, the one deficiency that I have seen in Gabi (other than missing three free throws) is that she is not getting the ball inside. She is acting more like a two-guard while Carter and Little are getting into the middle and dishing, sometimes out to Gabi. I suspect it is that she isn't quite sure how to do it yet. Her attempts have resulted in turnovers. She gets assists, but not by penetration. I was happy to see her begin to shoot more, and I saw Sherri berate her once for not taking an open three.

We seemed to do a lot of things well tonight. I am really beginning to like Vionese and McKenna (other than Vionese at the free throw line). LaNesia continues to be a pleasant surprise. Carter played much better tonight. The announcers love Maddie.

I thought the key performer tonight was Peyton. When we were getting started in the first half, she was getting into the middle, hitting the short jumpers, and feeding back outside. She got some early points and got the team moving. It never stopped moving. I thought it was Peyton's best performance this year.

Ritchie? Really?

First game we really cleaned up on the boards. Helped us tremendously.

Free throws at 50 percent again ( about). Just flat not good.

Was happy to see Carter play out of her funk.

Treece seems really smooth and smart. She could be better than Jo. I think I'm seeing Jo every time I watch Treece.

Very balanced scoring. Great hustle.

Kay-Kay had some really silly fouls again, but I can't believe she's playing as well as she is.

It just seems like there's a new beginning for coaches and players on this squad.

It's going to be interesting to the girls face tougher competition in the coming weeks.

I loved the platooning tonight and hope to see it in the future when appropriate.

This is my early predication we are going to beat either Kentucky or Duke you heard it here first.

Bradley isn't very good but we sure took advantage of them. Gioya overall, Peyton's offense, McKenna's smarts and fundamentals inside, Maddie moving and playing better, Gabbi's offense, Sharane being Sharane, KayKay playing inside and finishing really well at the basket, Vivi showing lots of promise again, everybody sharing and rebounding, showing great hustle, ball movement, movement away from the ball, drive and kick.
Wow even platoons like Norm suggested. All sorts of good promise on this team. Next weeks games will tell us a lot about the team, and I will miss all of it with holiday activities. Reports please!!!

Hard to tell about the quality of the competition and they were missing one of their best players.

But aside from that this was the best game by the Sooner women that I have seen from start to finish in many years.

Maddie looking more like herself. Too bad she couldn't play last year because she would have been a much better point than Morgan who would have done very well as a 2. I did like Morgan a lot. She was a gamer but not a true point.

Carter finally playing up to her talent but probably still a little too much on the edge.

Everyone played well and everyone on this team can play. Sherri should be able to run some teams off the court.

I'm really not surprised about L Williams. I saw a number of her games as a junior when Northeast Academy won the state championship. She wasn't as good as she is now but she was clearly the best player on that team. I think she scored like 25 points a game as a senior with very little help.

Little was fantastic. A scorer and also great court vision and a lot of assists. Campbell-Olds could be on cruise control tonight. Only hit the floor 2 or 3 times.

The Paradise Jam will give us a much better idea of just how good we are.

Some Thoughts
It's still early. But the team chemistry seems better.

Treece/Vivi/Kaylon give OU a real scoring inside presence not really seen since Abi/Parises.
35 pts and 15 boards in 40 minutes combined.
Treece/Vivi are so fundamentally sound for freshman.

Gioya played much better. Stlll no outside shot but the ability to drive and finish brings a different skill set.

Kornet is being used very effectively as the leader "glue" for the second unit.

Little looked great. She seems to be rounding into form after her redshirt year.

Loved the fact Gabi shot a bad shot and had a bad turnover off inbounds, then Sherri subbed in Maddie and Gabi sat for a while.

Maddie got some real minutes and seems to be getting better game over game.

Sherri just mobbed Bradley with waves of talent.

Just seems like the team is passing so much better and Sherri's using the different pieces in combo.

It's time for tougher competition for a real test.

To me there is just a brighter, hotter spark about this team that I didnt see last year.

I don't care if we beat Kentucky or Duke. I would just love to see us come home from the road trip with 5 wins. That could say a lot about this team. Being on the road for 7 games is going to be difficult. Of course, if they were to beat Kentucky or Duke, that would be good too. I think their best chance of the two would be Kentucky.

I just want to be able to these games on the internet or a friend's tv. Having finally gotten to see them play, am pumped to see them play every game. You just get such a better perspective than from the radio and looking at stats. I was surprised and excited to see Treece play so well. I may think Vivi is going to be better but that doesn't mean I do not think Treece is good and can be really good. And I know I am no expert, I just like to try and figure things out as well as I can.
