Well, their starters only scored 28. The key is that their team scored four more than we did, given that last lapse providing Ramirez with nine despite hardly playing. All of those nine were in the last two minutes.
There isn't one player who stood out today, good or bad. Maddie and Gabbi weren't hitting. Shaina and Ana kept making silly mistakes to turn the ball over (a couple were bad officiating calls). Maddie, Gabbi, and Vivi dominated the boards with 31 between them. TCU only had 35 as a team.
We started badly despite getting what we wanted. Vivi missed some chip shot layups that she rushed. She was only 3 of 7, unlike Vivi. Had 14 rebounds. We weren't moving. We had Shaina out front, tried to get it to Vivi, and got zero open looks---the exact opposite of what we had done against KU. Any shot inside ten feet could be blocked without a foul call, until the fourth quarter when they called us on a couple of blocking fouls. But, we were not running any offense other than stand around looking for a way to get it to Vivi.
Once we did play well enough to take a five-point lead, we made some of the most lethargic passes to give them a chance to get back in it. They scored five in a row due to turnovers by Ana on lazy passes. We never could get any energy back.
We just flat out lost this one. Quit thinking. The only good thing about this game is that our defense held a very good offense in check. We should have won by twenty.
