OU vs. Houston Statistical Plus/Minus
Ouch. Again! This time, no OU player had a great game. It was all pretty ugly. And that was with OU shooting well from the field! They just didn't play any defense. And they TURNED THE BALL OVER. AGAIN!

OU gave up 1.33 points per possession. That is really, really bad. Their offense, at least, was better--except for those turnovers again. OU simply doesn't force turnovers, and turns the ball over quite a bit. Not a good combination.
This game, TMG continued his lack of steals and poor A/TO margin. He can score, yes, but he's sloppy and doesn't play great defense. WW had turnovers and a lack of defensive pressure to blame for his poor SPM number. Pledger played solidly, scoring without TOs. Tony Crocker at least played a little defense (10 rebounds? Where were the big men?). Tiny played okay.
For Houston, Aubrey Coleman put together a great game. 27 points, 5 offensive rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block and 4 steals. Wow. Adam Brown chipped in well with 15 points, 3 ORB, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Very good line. Kelvin Lewis shot excellently, but didn't have the wonderful stuffing of the stat sheet.
On the whole, this was another weak defensive performance, with a very bad turnover margin. Pledger and WW are the bright spots for this team so far; Cade and TC are okay. Tiny is up and down. The rest... not so hot.

Statistical Plus/Minus (SPM) is a method of estimating each player's impact from the box score statistics. SPM is listed in points above the average player playing per 40 minutes--so if that player was replaced by an average player for 40 minutes, SPM is the difference in the final margin. The total of all player's contributions will sum to the actual scoring margin (each team's total will equal half of the overall margin). The original method was outlined by Dan Rosenbaum at 82games.com; recently additional factors were added by Neil Paine at Basketball-Reference.com. I previously compiled the complete 2008-2009 NCAA numbers on this forum.
