**********OU-Iowa State Pregame Game Thread**********

2) Find someone/anyone who can hit from three point land.

edit: beat me to it soonerdan

OU gets double digits from Neal, Blair, Grooms, Clark and Osby but still loses big. That is very tough to accept.

I don't get how you say ISU doesn't lose much when they lose Christopherson and Chris Allen. Those guys combined for 41 tonight and average over 22 per game on the season. They are the second and third leading scorer on the team. I think that is a significant loss. They also average over 41% from 3 point range taking almost 10 threes per game between them.

Pledger, Osby, Fitz went 6 for 30. Can't win with that.
The supporting players chipped in OK but our leaders stunk it up.
The last 8 or 9 minutes just wanted it to get over with.
Can't many positives coming of this game, or something to build on.
Just get this season over with and get on to next year.

Confidence for Grooms, Blair, Clark and Neal is a positive but that is about it. It will really help this team next year if Neal can shoot 40% from 3 point range like he did tonight. Cam shot above 57% from the field. That is a good thing. Carl Blair was 4-5 for 80%. If these guys can shoot with confidence next season that will be helpful.

Other than that, I agree there wasn't much to be positive about. The defense was not good.

It sure would be great if it has. Clark as a legitimate scoring threat will help this team. Grooms also seems to be scoring a little better lately. Next year, OU just needs M'Baye, Hield and Hornbeak to be able to knock down 3 pointers. (M'Baye is going to help no matter what because OU will have three post scorers even if he can't hit 3s on a consistent basis.). I don't think Cam is every going to be a really good three point shooter but he doesn't have to be to be a good player.

Newsflash: Fitz and Osby aren't low post scorers.

Well they play the post positions and both average over 10 a game so I would argue they are post scorers. I agree that they both shoot 10+ foot jumpers a lot but they are still producing points from the post positions.

I have read that Kruger's style of play is sort of run'n gun.
Can that work if the team can not play D or shoot a decent % of shots?

You have to have athletic players who can shoot to be a run and gun team. OU has none of that right now.

Osby, Clark and Grooms are pretty athletic. Neal has a huge vertical and that is typically indicative of athletic ability. M'Baye is also athletic. OU is not as far off as many fans think. They are just missing a couple of players. Hopefully M'Baye, Hield and Hornbeak will be those players.

I agree with you on those guys but none are really good shooters. Heild and Hornbeak will really help in the shooting dep't.
