I hate to say things because I will jinx us. But you can't help but be happy about OU's offense. This is a good offensive team. Obviously they rely way too much on the jumper ... but that's a matter of personnel. These guys take good shots. Best offensive coaching we've had here since Billy by far.

Too many turnovers at the end there. I don't like our chances but we still have a chance. 50-44 at half.

Terrible end to the half....killed all the momentum they built. I'll eat crow after the game but I can see us in danger of getting blown out here.

JBaker, great teams finish the half strong. I wish someone would ask Lon why they struggle so much to close out the half.

The good:

we are hustling/fighting hard.

good drives and free throw shooting.

The bad:

that run to end the half.

We are finally going to see the epic suckage of our defense and the consequences of it....when we play elite teams/athletes. A couple of Bilas quotes are below regarding our defense:

"I didn't realize you could get that wide open".

"it's almost like you're paralyzed because you have so many options (on offense)"...referring to KU.

Yikes. I hope we can get hot from three and keep getting to the free throw line in the 2nd half.....otherwise, it may get ugly.

This one isn't that hard to figure out. No Spangler-No shot.

Yep; we have to have a good start to the 2nd half. We're not going to get enough defensive stops and cannot be too far down. Have to stay within a few possessions.

We got 10 rebounds for the entire first half. Fortunately, if someone told me before the game started that Kansas would be making almost 2/3 of their shots and we would have 10 total rebounds, I would guess we were down 20+.

We likely won't shoot from the outside any better or get to the foul line any more than what we did in the first half. Therefore, we either must start playing defense or Kansas wins this going away.

Put it this way...
Kansas has 50 points at halftime.
On Sunday, at home, they had 57 points for the game.

As pretty as the offensive output is the defense is just as ugly, pathetically ugly. Gotta figure that out and fast.

The way the game is being called obviously is keeping us in it but we HAVE to play sounder D to stay in this game. Need Spangler to step up also.
