Ou @ ksu

Certainly disagree with you there. Especially based on the players you think should get minutes, it must mean you are saying other people are selfish and
don't pass. A lot of the three point shooters have the green light from Sherri tto shoot, so believe that is not the case. Heck they pass up good shots and ttake bad ones. They do pass the ball, what they don't do is move. Maybe that is Sherri's offense to pass the ball and not move to get into position to make a play, just pass the ball around the outside and pass in and out to the center. It certainly isn't working that well and never has on on OUWBB team that I remember.

That is about what every team in every league at any level does against a zone.

I didn't say anything about the defense being run. I was talking about the offense we run and have run on every wbb team that I can remember. Maybe we had a few teams since 2002 that didn't just dribble and pass, that the players actually moved without the ball. I just don't remember them

ha. no. We technically have a face up player in the front court, Maddie. And a back to the basket player KK and Vivi.

Calling Maddie a high post is not serious. She is just an inch or two over 6 feet tall. Even as it is, we have some of the shortest posts (in KK and Vivi) in the conference. I doubt either is as tall as listed, especially the way they slump over just a bit instead of standing upright.

Good grief. Texas has two who are listed in the 6' 7" category. Baylor has two who are taller than ours. OSU has Jensen who is 6' 4". etc. etc. etc.

We are already undersized at the post. Claiming Maddie as one is not reasonable.

Guards could be called face up players I suppose. That is not the same as a high post/low post offense.

Note again that I am not calling for that with our current roster.

Ha. I can't even handle you right now. "Especially the way they were slumping over"??? what does that have to do w/ anything!?

Does Jensen play the high post? Cause I seem to remember her catching it down low on us the entire night. How many times did Texas run that hi/lo against us? think Lang got about 5 mins of play... I seen Baylor run it, and they don't do it any better than we do from the games i have watched.

Best player at the High Post that I saw all year was Courtney Willaims for A&M.
6-1 if Im not mistaken.

You are aware that High post means you catch the ball at the elbow and not that you stand high in the air right?? ha Cause I can't confirm that you know that from some of the comments you've made.

I would also like to add that when Maddie fouled out the first time against KState w/ just 9 mins of pt. Sherri made the comment that we struggled because Maddie fouled out and that was big because "She is SO good at that High Post". Are you more knowledgable about basketball than Sherri is? NO. Your not. Now stop talking about it cause your making me upset.

Calm down a bit S4L. My mom always said you never lose your temper, you just display it. I guess I'm surprised you are having emotional issues anyway. This is just a message board - and has little impact on your life - I hope.

Although I have no idea what it has to do with our discussion, actually Jensen does play high sometimes. Last night she did a little, even hit a couple of shots from there in the game against Texas if you watched that one. But of course most of the time she is low. When a post moves out there and can hit a few it really does open up the defense. Much like Spangler does for the guys. I bet no one would be happier than Sherri if one of our posts could do that at times. I actually think either KK or Vivi took and hit a shot out a ways against K State. Kind of surprised me.

Texas does not run it all the time - just on occasion - and they did for a few minutes last night. You and I agree that it will likely be of no value to us this year if anyone is thinking of doing it with Vivi and KK, but it is possible we will use it some next year.

Maddie does play at the top some. In fact she plays several spots in the course of the game.

its frustrating reading the same thing's game after game. Like, a hi/lo game isn't a consistent way to score in basketball today, i think we just agreed on that? Why do we keeping bringing it up on here? Someone defends it one way or another, and a lot of time is wasted. What is the root problems? Thats what deserves more discussion and you have the right to your opinion on that- Some think its recruiting. I think we got the players we just need to adjust to what we can do well- I think we have some really good athletes sitting on the bench that bring a lot to the table. That's the root problem for me. A replacement at the 4 position tho!? We don't even have one, why talk about it after every game? Please don't come bk with we should play Vv and KK together- thats not going to work. They can't knock down a shot, there (relatively speaking) slow, they would get tired- and we essentially put a great ball handler, passer, defender, w the ability to really score on the bench in Maddie- it makes no sense to do that. Especially when she can defend the position and rebound- that makes zero sense to me.

Would like to bring up this too since its been brought up elsewhere, Vivi and KK aren't out of shape They are just big players playing in a really fast paced offense- maybe we should slow it down some and play D? I bet they commit far fewer fouls, and become far more efficient as individuals, as well as every one else on our team. I think we got the core players to make a great run THIS season, but not with these rotations, and i don't think w/ this style of play- at least not yet- being as we still haven't proven we can hit shots. Slow it down, D it up, put in personel that Can D up- Root problems.

You know these candy ass passive aggressive comments are really tiresome.
Folks are trying to have a discussion on OU sports.

They are not passive aggressive. They are firmly aggressive and contemptuous towards those who really aren't discussing sports. We do have some posters now who are discussing sports, like Sweetest, Sooners4Life, womensport, Oliver Hardy, SoonerMike, cowboy, etc. They even disagree with each other, and they can even have some questions about Sherri without every comment being reflective of some superior attitude as if they knew more than a Hall of Fame coach.

Someone mentioned players being out of shape? I don't know if they are or not, but I sometimes see more huffing and puffing out there than it seems that I've seen in the past - and I'm not thinking of KK and ViVi. Does anyone have any insight to the new S&C coach? Are the women and the men still sharing the S&C coach?

Are you discussing sports right now? That's what I thought. Again, Bye Felicia! :)

Good question. In the past, hasn't that been the case? It would seem to me that you would need different coaches, ones that know the muscles or just specifically the bodies of each, because they are different. I would think that would make a difference in training, rehab, training after rehab. However, I do not really know much about it. It is something I have been thinking about because I have a sister who works out 3 or 4 times a week and she has a personal trainer that she sees once a week. This has been going on for two years and I see no improvement. My concern is her health. I want her to be strong, have energy, limber but am not seeing it. Plus, she loves to run but only seems to do some on the treadmill and she used to run outside at least twice a week. So that has made me wonder about trainers. Different people need to do different exercises and training and probably women, in general, would be different than men. Not that one person couldn't address both genders.

As an aside, am I the only person who feels Vivi's leg has bothered her more this year than last. I often perceive her giving to it a bit when she plays, especially when she takes that first step to go back down the court.

I haven't noticed either a fatigue or physical problem with Vivi, as compared to last year. She seems to be able to play through fatigue better than most.

I have seen fatigue with Kay Kay. Gioya tires fairly quickly, probably due to her inability to play throughout her recovery. I doubt she was running a mile or two a day. It seems that Derica gets tired.

But, i'm not sure that I've seen any indication of fatigue on the part of others. Some aren't in the game long enough to get tired.

A lack of focus and concentration do coincide with fatigue. But, I see a loss of focus and concentration from before anyone has an opportunity to become fatigued.

I agree. I just thought she might be having a problem with her leg. I have noticed it a few times from the first of the season, but may be nothing.

When YoYo was named the S&C coach for the men and the women, I got the impression that it was the first time both teams had the same coach, but I could be wrong. I don't know what the current situation is.

They have Brett Frantz as the Strength and Conditioning coach, he works with the Men and Women's team as well as Tennis.

That's interesting. I see KK as being in better shape as the year has moved along. The most obvious sign I see is their movement back down the court when we go on offense. I have also noticed that with Jensen but OSU often allows her to stop at the top of the key and make a pass or two, with someone else low to start their offense. Then they work her back toward the low post as they set up.
