OU may be the worst team in the Big 12

Woodard is the wild card now. Without him, I would agree.

I think it's too early to label OU as the Big 12's worst team. I agree it definitely looked that way against Baylor. But the Bears have made every team they've played except Louisville look bad. Ask all of the ranked teams on their schedule so far. Mich. State lost by 15. Xavier, ranked #7 at the time, lost by 15. Oregon, a team that beat #3 UCLA last week, lost by 27 on their own floor.

Okie State looked like a top four Big 12 team before losing to KU at home by 18. Baylor is not only the best team I have seen in the conference, they are no worse than a top three team nationally. Woodard might have been enough to keep the margin under 20 last night. But, Baylor is so good and so big, OU will not be the only team to get blown out in conference play. I'm not even sure KU can pull off a win, especially in Waco.

Yeah, Baylor is the best team in the league and a bad match-up for OU whether JW plays or not.

Worst team, well it's easy to say that, and they very well be but give credit to Baylor, they are very good.

It isn't just one game that hit me to this. We just have looked bad against every team worth a damn this year. And the Big 12 has very few if any bad teams.

Your assessment may be right, Nick. I'm just not ready to agree with you after losing to an undefeated team that won easily over every team they've played except one. It's also important to note that this team played well in the first half and part of the second in a losing effort against UNI, WSU and Wisconsin, when youth and inexperience reared its ugly head.

They didn't seem to learn how to finish from those games, and it's possible that may not change. Still, there is at least a glimmer of hope in what we have seen them do in some games.

I hope OU can win a game soon because those players look devastated and helpless. They obviously care, as you can see their disappointment. I've never seen a team with such a low confidence level. I wish Lon or the coaching staff as a whole could just say alright guys, no pressure now. Play with your hair on fire, quit worrying... Nothing to lose!

They're in that position now, except it's not easy to ignore the pressure when your record is 6-6 and you lost the conference opener on your home floor.

In reality, though, this team can still salvage what's left of the season if they they all come together and then fight like a junk yard dog in every game. We saw that toughness and pride early on. It was noticeably absent in last night's game.

Agree 100%. Their body language and facial language was one of totally defeated. This team has regressed dramatically from the beginning of the season. It may take a hell of a coaching job by Lon to get this bunch to show up again. I was afraid losing Steve Henson would be big, but, it appears bigger than I thought.

I agree, but why specifically Henson? I get the feeling you are going to say that he is the one that tore into them, maybe played the bad cop sometimes? I know their confidence is low, but sometimes I wish Lon would lay into them, it doesn't seem like he ever does. Can you imagine Huggins with these guys? I'm glad Lon is positive and doesn't verbally berate players, but it seems like a little healthy dose might be good here and there. I'm not saying he never does, I have just never seen it.

well ... ok.

if THIS is just the absolute worst that things can be ... ok. it gets better from here.

We have a lot of so called fans with extremely short memories. A team of primarily freshmen and sophomores is going to struggle. But as much as this team struggles, they are still much better than Capel's last two years and even Kruger's first year.

You are right!!!!

Well it does look like the team and staff are working hard to reach that goal.

I hope so but based on the teams play all year 10 or 11 wins is about it. That's a pitiful year. Particularly this day and age. And we didn't really have that tough a schedule overall.

It's tough just by the sheer lack of cupcakes. Only a few. Lots of losable games, as proved. It just wont rank high because it lack the heavyweights.

We play in the Big 12. That right there makes the schedule extremely difficult.

Huh? Outside of Baylor, OU has hung with every team they have played, outside of Wisconsin in the last 8 minutes or so.

Without JW, I would agree...we have the potential to be the worst team in the Big 12...is there a team younger than OU?

With JW, I would not agree. Like someone else said, JW is the wild card in this discussion.
