Per Scott Wright's twitter:

@ScottWrightOK: #Sooners offered hoop scholarships to Mustang sophs Jakolby Long (6-4 PG) and Austin Meyer (6-8 F), per Mustang coach Terry Long #okpreps

Both are class of 2016 guys so they will be sophomores this year. Here's what Sam wrote up about them at OKHoops.com in January:

Jakolby Long, 6’3 PG, Mustang
Being the son of a coach has it’s privileges and for Jakolby Long it’s no different. Receiving on the job training from coach and father Terry Long at Mustang has went far in the maturation of this budding young star. Long is a combination of skill, athleticism, and basketball IQ. The strong framed freshman at Mustang uses a bullying approach translate into offensive production on one end and defensive havoc on the other.

Austin Meyer, 6’8 C, Mustang
Many times bigger players develop later than their guard counterparts, especially with the fundamental aspects of the game. That’s not the case with Meyer, as he has entered his high school career with a sound understanding of the game. He has good footwork on offense, and already converts a very high percentage of his shots around the hoop, even getting his fair share of dunks. Meyer needs to continue to get stronger but he’s already an imposing force around the rim on both ends of the floor.

Good information! Thank you for posting it.

I like these early offers of Oklahoma kids. I hope they both have wonderful highs school and college careers. I will have to add Mustang HS to the teams I need to go watch.

If Jakolby is a good a person as Terry is we need to get him!

Great news! I love to see local kids on an OU roster, especially if they can play a little. Maybe somebody out there can keep us posted on their progress this season.

My kids go/went to Mustang. Everything thing I've heard is both kids are really good kids.

I wouldn't be surprised if they offered a third Mustang player, Curtis Haywood III, a 6ft5 wing that put up big numbers as a freshman last year.

That sounds like a stacked team. Good coach and potentially 3 D-1 prospects? Holy crap!

Is Terry Long the guy who coached Steve Clark at Douglas and then left and Steve decided to go to Vegas?

We'll see if this amounts to much. Don't recall any of these dramatically early offers panning out.

Well, Meyer was 6'8" as a freshman, extremely athletic and runs the floor like a deer. Long looks to me like a football player playing basketball. EXTREMELY physical guard as a freshman - manhandled some talented upper classmen.

I realize it's your "job" to be Mr. Naysayer, but these kids are pretty legit and are being recruited by some of the bigger schools.

BTW, Long is actually playing football this year...pops probably isn't too happy about it...

Meyer is by far the better basketball prospect of the two. He will be impressive if he gets some help in developing as a big man. Mustang is very guard oriented, and sometimes loses him and what he is capable of. Long is more than a year older than most his grade...he is more physical right now, but that often catches up over time. Meyer could be a GREAT get though.

I was told today that Meyer appears to have really grown over the summer. Appears to be at least 6'9" and has added some good weight. He's VERY agile for a young kid his size.

Mustang has a young but very good lineup. Jakolby Long (Soph.) continues to show that he can be the spark to unite an offense. He's very powerful and has proved to be clutch in desperate situations. Curtis Haywood (Soph.) is ineligible this year, but continues to put up big numbers in the JV games. Austin Meyer (Soph) is a great player for his size. He can easily get above the rim, and can play with just about anyone when he chooses to do so. Junior Guard Terrell Williams can be considered an all around player, almost a Westbrook type. He gets into the lane so quickly and can hit from just about anywhere, whether it be from to top of the key or behind the arc. Demarion Love (Senior) is a great team player, and uses the fast break to his advanatge. Here's some highlights of Austin Meyer [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIlcReZbq5Y[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQ7-8nYcApU[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eZTb0NduuU[/ame]

And here are some highlights from our win against Edmond Memorial (I'm a student at Mustang) [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFglU4Wtk68[/ame]
