OU offers two in-state players from Mustang

If you guys want to see these guys in action, come out to Mustang High School at 8:00 next Friday as they take on PCO in the first round of regionals.

I was hoping the offers weren't solid.. Already wasting a scholly on CJ Cole or whatever that walkons named.

Almost impossible to fill a teams limit with high D1 prospects. There's always greener grass "pt" somewhere else. So you fill the last couple of spots with sleeper prospects that may develop as upperclassmen. These kids are likely state or local and good teammates with school loyalty. Tyler Neal came here under different circumstances but he was not a high D1 prospect and now I wish he had redshirted so he could play next season.

As for these 2 offers, I believe interest this early means they are high D1 prospects.

I always laugh to myself when I read statements like 'so-in-so will never play or "won't be any good or 'is only a role player and will never see the floor' because board genius' in the past, at different times, have used those exact phrases to describe Blake Griffen, Ryan Spangler, Tyler Neal, and other starters and major contributors on the Sooner's basketball team over the years.

Any person who has themselves worked their butt off to develop a physical skill knows how time and incremental development on a daily basis builds to what appears to be improvements by leaps and bounds.

Though, even a broken clock is correct 2 times a day.

Did people say it about Blake Griffin?

I bet they would have said it about Ryan Minor. I can assure you people said negative things about Hollis Price as a freshman.

Who in the world said anything bad about Hollis as a freshman?

He started 22 games. Was improving the entire season. Nailed those FT's against Mizzou. There was a LOT to like about Hollis as a freshman.

Austin Meyer had 15 points and 20 boards tonight in Mustang's win against PC North

Darned good numbers for a sophomore, even against a sub-.500 team like PC North. I'm particularly impressed with his 20 rebounds.

Long and Meyer are sophomores. Assuming they're shaving once or twice a week, it's not much more than peach fuzz.

OU offer or not, Scott Wright, an Oklahoman reporter who covers OU basketball, seems to think the Sooners have a legitimate interest. If so, that works for me. LK and his staff have proven they're pretty darned good at judging talent and potential. I like what I have seen in the players they have signed in the last two recruiting classes.

I have no idea if Meyer and Long actually have an OU offer? Even if they do, it's anybody's guess as to how good they'll be next year or two years from now. That's where trusting our coaches to make the right call comes in.

Jeff Capel? Short memory? The kid's name?

I'm talking about the coaches we have now, 'cause they have proven they can be trusted.

I will never sell out to any coach again until he proves himself. I learned my lesson on that one. You did, too. ;)

Rebounding translates to the college game probably more than any other skill.

As I recall, you were not "wowed" by Isaiah Cousins or Frank Booker, even when they were high school seniors.

Just sayin ...

Your making up stuff to try and discredit me.. We had no info on booker except that he could shoot but was limited athletically. I wanted a straight shooter since rotnei, so I never said anything bad about booker and in fact wanted him since he was booked as a shooter... and he looks really good athletically..

Similarly we had little info on cousins other than a report that he was a late bloomer with huge upside. So once again I didn't say anything about him.

Get your "facts" straight

So, you want 4'11" one trick pony in Clark, but aren't sold on two guys competing at the highest levels with all the measurables and skill you want out of a sophomore in HS?

What a genius.

1) you cant read-- I said since clark I wanted someone like him

2)even if I DID said that, if you don't think he was a great player and would have contributed greatly to our team then you are factually retarded

3)hes not 4'11-- I played against him and keiton paige-- both studs (I said page would start 4 years-- he did)

4)all I expressed was my opinion that from the limited times ive seen him that ive not been impressed-- why you mad?

3 point shooting "might" trump that. You can be a good rebounder in HS being only 6'4 or so (just throwing a number out there). You won't be a good rebounder in college as a 6'4 post.

Good shooters can shoot it. I'll never understand why guys like Forte aren't recruited harder.

Your definition of stud is pretty comical. Could they both shoot? Sure they could. Could they contribute much of anything other than that... HELL NO.

I'm not even a little bit mad. I simply asked you a question. Just because some small school/marginal DI player schooled YOU, doesn't necessarily mean they are great players. BTW, what NBA roster are they both on right now?

Hahaha... We're talking college not nba.. Are you special or something?
