OU offers two in-state players from Mustang

One example from 16 seasons ago doesn't make me wrong. ;)

Technically you were wrong by saying you won't be a good rebounder in college at 6'4". I agree it's harder to average 10 plus boards a game at 6'4" but it is possible.

And my comment wasn't meant to be taken literally, as in, there are NO 6'4 guys that can ever rebound well in college. 6'4 HS kids that play inside, rebound fairly well, and never even play any level of college ball are a dime a dozen.

3 point shooting "might" trump that. You can be a good rebounder in HS being only 6'4 or so (just throwing a number out there). You won't be a good rebounder in college as a 6'4 post.

Good shooters can shoot it. I'll never understand why guys like Forte aren't recruited harder.

Dejuan Blair might not be 6'6".

William Davis was a rebounding machine at 6'4"...wasn't Charles Barkley around that height.

I think Barkley was closer to 6' 6".

Former Notre Dame and NBA player, Adrian Dantley, was another great rebounder for his size. He was around 6' 5".

All of these players had one thing in common: Big rear ends. It's a lot easier to get position inside and harder to move a guy out of position when he's got a big butt.

These two likely hold offers but they by far are not the best 2016's out there.
If these two guys don't get better then their offer will be pulled. Similar to juwan Parker and omega Harris.
Dickinson, Doolittle, and McDowell are all better than these two guys. 2016 will be a great class for the state of Oklahoma high school basketball.

One other point to make on the in state kids. I know we don't like to think of LK in this light, and we don't know all the facts, but it appears we offered Hammonds early, then told him to look elsewhere when a) he didn't continue to improve, and b) we potential bigger fish that the staff felt we could land.

Maybe that is what we're doing here. Extend them the offer with some kind of qualifier that they continue to improve. If they fall short, like say a Hardrick or a Hammonds, you part ways.

That's exactly what is happening. LK is a mastermind in the talent department!

I hear that Coach Long would like to be taken along as an assistant coach with his son. Don't know if this is true or only a rumor. He is a very good man. He left Douglas because he didn't want his kid going to school in that envirorment.

His kid would have gone to Edmond SF I believe

I wonder if Abercrombie would agree with you?

Listing a handful of exceptions doesn't make my statement wrong. Sorry I didn't qualify it by saying 99% of 6'4 posts in HS aren't going to be good college rebounders. You guys keep naming the 1% though. lol

Rebounding, IMO, is more about technique and girth as opposed to height.

Pretty sure once you get hired you can't recruit your "own" players...
NCAA violation.

1) You can still be a good rebounder if you are an undersized post, but you give up so much more on defense and rarely get offensive rebounds.

2) Clark and Page were really good college players who were amazing shooters, Clark is the best oklahoma high school shooter I've seen. They were both major D1 all conference guys so pointing out they didn't make the nba doesn't mean they were average.

3) from what I've seen I would rather have Dickinson or McDowell over Long, not really high on Meyer but big young posts take a little longer to develop. That being said with Long's length and physicality he could turn into an intriguing prospect.

Long is similar to David Godbold.

Clark was a great shooter PERIOD. Page was a pretty decent shooter. BOTH were horrible defenders and average ball handlers. Those guys hustled but were limited.

They were both good passers and page was a solid ball handler as well. At the end of their careers they didn't give up as much defensively as you are saying.

At the same point in their career I think both Page and Clark were better than Long right now.

Interesting to see what he does next year, his dad doesn't want him playing football.

Well, IMO comparing Long to those guys is unfair to them and they him. First off, I'm not sure EITHER of those two would have been able to handle the riggers of large school basketball when they were freshmen and sophomore age. I KNOW they couldn't guard many large school top guards like Long can/has. I'm not sure they could've guarded many top HS guards when they graduated from college.

Long has never shot the ball like them and more than likely never will.
