OU offers two in-state players from Mustang

You are saying they could just shoot when they could do much more than that. People just focus on their shooting because they did that so well. Also they would probably average 18-22 ppg in 6A as a sophomore. Both played in AAU and pretty much lit up anyone who guarded them and to say they couldn't guard HS kids after they graduated college is laughable.

I disagree, but you're certainly entitled to your opinion.

I'm not sure they could've guarded many top HS guards when they graduated from college.

I think this is bordering on silly. Both guys not only participated in D-1 basketball, they played significant roles at major programs. They practiced against great players every day. They played against great players every conference game (and most games). After four or five years of college basketball they can defend people.

Before you go all wild on what I said, ask yourself if they could guard Jordan Woodard. I said, TOP HS guards. I'd say Woodard would wear them out. Now, could he guard them? Right now, probably not. That has more to do with age, IMO.

sooo.... now that Page is fat and out of shape... he cant guard woodard = they werent good basketball players in college at their prime????? :facepalm

the point is they were good players. they def played harder Defense than Jimmer Fredette in that awful lazy zone they ran......

Well, IMO comparing Long to those guys is unfair to them and they him. First off, I'm not sure EITHER of those two would have been able to handle the riggers of large school basketball when they were freshmen and sophomore age. I KNOW they couldn't guard many large school top guards like Long can/has. I'm not sure they could've guarded many top HS guards when they graduated from college.

Long has never shot the ball like them and more than likely never will.

It is just an opinion. I have seen Long struggle to guard people many times as well.

I think Page was a better high school player than Clark and watched him growing up. He would have been a very good soph in 6A and would have been fine.

They wouldn't have scored like they did in small school, but Keiton would have held his own very easy.

It isn't a knock on any of them, just stating my opinion about the 3.

i didnt know this, but i just read that Page is OSU's all time leader in:
1)3 pointers made
2)minutes played in a career

so ya, i think he would have been fine in oklahoma 6A considering he proved what he could do in D freaking 1 ball

I was referring to them, as seniors in college, guarding Woodard now. No matter how you want to paint it, they were average to below average on most other skills other than shooting. BTW, Page was like a 40% career shooter (38% 3p). Not bad, but not great either.

shot better than pledger..

kid was a solid college player and there were rumors i heard at the time that Ford was not wanting to honor Pages commitment when Ford got the job...

I was hoping that Page would go to OU through the backdoor and play scorned for 4 years against osu.. :woot

I wouldn't call Pledger a great player in college. BTW, he probably couldn't guard Woodard either.

I never said those weren't decent players. I just place more emphasis on the game than shooting and playing hard.

pledger is a "shooter" who didnt shoot as well as page.. i wasnt a fan of his game either..

your simply understating pages ability, buying into the commentators talking points that hes limited athletically because white and short.. page could dunk the ball at 5'9 and played just fine defense

Jordan Woodard is more than just a top HS guard. According to maxpreps.com OKlahoma has 519 high school basketball teams. If you assume three guys (which may be too low) play the bulk of the minutes at the 1 and 2 positions that is over 1,500 players. Woodard was one of the top 2 or 3 guards in his class out of 1,500 for all classes. He is way higher than the top HS guards. He is one of the top Big XII guards.

These two guys were good enough to play major minutes in BCS conferences. If they were so bad defensively, they wouldn't have been able to play major minutes at the level they played.

Woodard might be able to tear these guys up (and he might not) but that really has nothing to do with whether or not he could defend top HS guards. Many of the top HS guards won't even play D-1 basketball.

Woodard as a freshman compared to those two as seniors I would say almost positively that they could guard him more effectively than he could guard either of them. Again that's just this year, Woodard has more potential to be a better defender based on his athleticism.

That's my definition of top guard.

This is a common theme on the internet. it is ridiculous and racist. No one plays basketball at OU or OSU that is not an exceptional athlete.

So, they could guard him, but MANY guards this year can't?

Anyway, back to the topic. I won't comment on Page and Clark again. If you guys want to start a thread about their greatness, I'll consider posting in that thread.

My opinion isn't based on TV announcers or media. I saw it with my own eyes.
