OU Texas

Maddie doesn't protect the ball when she drives in the paint. At her height, she's easily stripped of the ball. When Gabby drove inside, she'd get in too deep with no back-up pass option. I think a few pull-up jumpers would have been better shots.

My biggest issue is the overall problem the girls have grabbing loose balls. They often end up on the floor after having a chance to grab the ball while standing. I don't know if they work on this, but they need to do more.

I agree that they get intimidated by physical play. You work on this by letting them foul in practice. The girls need to be comfortable getting bumped. I think the refs are often ok with bumps and swats at the arms and hands. There is no way all the reach ins and swats we see are hitting only ball.

I thought this is why they practice against men. Apparently they need tougher men.

So Vinny. What did Sherri not do to coach them. How do you know what she did or didn't do.

We did well in the early conference play because of Carter. She no longer is playing near that level.

We have been sluggish on offense ever since the Baylor game. Not sure why but probably how the other teams prepared for us.

I don't know who posted it, but I went back and checked. In the last ten games of the season, OU was whistled for more fouls than their opponents in seven of the ten, the exceptions being KState, Baylor, and KU in a row. We were whistled for more fouls than Texas in the tournament.

Now, if we are so soft, and they are so much more physical, why are we the ones who are being called for all of the fouls?

Syb,

It is mostly a factor of who the officials are. If the trio that refereed the game Sunday had called the Baylor game we won in Norman we would have lost it by double digits and had several players foul out. They are extremely inconsistent from play to play and call to call. I don't know if you noticed it, but twice in her very short comments Sherri mentioned that when we drove inside we expected to get foul calls, but they just would not call them. That is highly unlike her to say anything like that postgame, and is probably the only way she can state it all things considered.

The ones (2 of the 3) who called the Baylor - OU game in Norman were also the ones who called the Big-10 Championship game this weekend. They once again did a masterful job. On questionable calls they headed for the side to make sure they had it right, and they were consistent at both ends of the court. If the trio who called our game Sunday had called the Maryland - Ohio State game, OSU would likely have won.

At the same time, we simply missed too many shots, while Texas shot better than they normally do. Too high a hill to climb, so we will obviously not get a top 4 seed and play in Norman. But I will not be surprised if they place us as a 5 or 6 seed in a spot where we could play our way to the OKC regional. That could not have happened if we had somehow gotten a 4 seed (by the new rules thus year about 1 to 4 seeds from the same conference not being allowed to be assigned to the same region except in some unusual circumstances). Not sure we have enough gas left in the tank to win 2 games in a row though, no matter who we play. We picked a lousy time to lose our shooting touch.

I knew as soon as the officials came on the court we were in trouble foul wise. One of the men is one of the ones a few years back who claimed Joanna was not even fouled (another official said the same) when the OSU player threw her elbow and broke her jaw so it had to be taped up for the rest of the season. I mean she is laying on the court with a broken jaw and he is claiming she was not fouled. Strangest thing I ever watched in a basketball game (OK the 2nd strangest now that I think about it). I'm pretty sure they just did not want to admit they were "letting them play" and caused such a terrible injury.

I really like the Texas coach and several of their players. They are respectful, committed to the game itself, and display excellent sportsmanship. I hated losing to them, but felt no animosity toward them. That is the way the game should be.

Just watched our game (OU vs. tx) and right after watched (TX vs. Baylor). Uhhhhhh, what the hell happened????? (Was out of the country and now playing catch-up!) Had to rewind a few times to see details, but disappointed in the loss to Texas. Really wanted to play Baylor again and prove it was NOT a fluke that we beat them in league play. I will say that Texas brought their DEFENSIVE game. Anyone that says that we lost that game due to missing so many shots is crazy! The reason we missed so many is because they were in our faces all night long. That Sanders kid was like a nat in the face of Peyton all night! And where the hell did Henderson come from? I don't think she played against us that much last couple times we played them, then boom she's hitting 3's after coming in a few minutes before game was over. I thought we had this one in the bag and wasn't worried a bit! Crap! I'm pissed all over again!

TX vs. Baylor - SHOULD HAVE BEEN US!!!!! In watching that game I was getting nauseous just watching Mulkey. The Refs almost looked intimidated by her. I mean grow a pair!!!! I thought the outcome would be Baylor by 30 but Texas hung in there even after having some sloppy play. Then to hear Mulkey dog Texas for "still playing" and closing the lead to less, and she's pissed? Really? Would she not want her to team to play to the buzzer? TX started scoring on their bench and it embarrassed her. Yes it was her "bench", but does she not have any faith in all of her players? She doesn't need to make excuses, TX has been playing their bench all season. She thought TX would lay down give up? What an idiot! No team should stop playing even if they're 30-40 points down! That being said, Nina Davis is a great ball player.....she rarely misses. Just needs to work on her attitude. She's been around Mulkey too long.

Moving on.......let's do this Big Dance thing right! Come on girls! Push through! We believe!!!! BOOMER!!!!!

It's called everything goes back to the coach. Even Sherri has said that. When someone is paid 1.2 million per year you expect them to prepare x's and o's Better, get the players ready Better, Adjust IN game Better, NOT just sit on the bench during that disaster with her head in her hands. Do you think Geno would have done that? NO! She looked like a deer in headlights or a high school coach. We kept doing the SAME things all game so I gather from that she had no adjustments to make or was so stubborn that her pre game plan was right that she didn't need to change lol.

We changed up our offensive attack several times in that game actually. Thanks for the x's and o's tho.

& If salary equates to wins then we finished right where we should be from what I've read. Mulkey gets paid more than Sherri, Sherri gets paid more than the rest and we finished in second, right behind Mulkey. By your math we shouldn't be on Geno's level cause Sherri doesn't get paid as much. I would say comparing her to other coaches outside the Big 12 is not a fair comparison, because our conference is by far the deepest. Let down games are easy when you play teams that are very familiar with you, and they are all good teams. Our overall Ap ranking is irrelevant cause when you lose to a Kansas or a Iowa State team it will have a negative effect on all of that but, in reality Iowa State beat Baylor- and Kansas almost beat Baylor- so I don't find them to be weak teams at all. So in comparison to other coaches in the conference, if salary has anything to do with wins- (which it doesn't) we technically finished right where we should be, Vin.

This is all ignoring the point that OU pays Sherri so much cause no. 1 she's a great ambassador for the School and 2. that is just the market price for a coach that has been to 3 final fours and saved a program that was going off the deep end. Is it a high price? Yeah. But thats what somebody else would pay her to run there program, so its just the price we have to pay. I'll tell you right now, coaches that have been to three final fours aren't lining up at the door to take over Oklahoma women's basketball- or at any other program for that matter. How many coaches in the country have even been to 3 final fours? Not very many, and none are going to be losing and/or leaving where there at to come to Oklahoma. So the price is irrelevant- if it was relevant, by your math, she performed right at the level she should be at.

Haha the hate comes out lol. How about sitting butts on the bench for continually driving into the traffic and getting stripped or blocked Every time? Guess you are Happy with changing things a few times and still getting your butt kicked huh? Again, SHE is supposed to get things Ready AND keep adjusting till things are corrected. It is HER job at 1.2 million per year to put a better product on the floor. This is the same Texas team that lost like 3 starters to injury this year right?

She did keep adjusting. I saw several different ways she adjusted. Ran the Offense through Sharane against, Kelsey Lang trying to penetrate. She ran that double high post screen play w Gabbi several times. She ran the pick and roll with Maddie. She ran pick and roll with Gioya. She ran Peyton off of screens. She got the ball down to KK. She played fast, she played slow. She changed form man to zone to a 1-3-1 trap... But thanks again. We had almost twice as many looks as them. They got the rolls, thats it.

Your the hater bud. You ONLY hate.

Stop feeding the troll - it just wants you to respond, so it can respond again.

Hey 4, please find ANY post where I show ANY hate!! Bet you can't. Now do I state the obvious? Yes. Do I hate? No! If you can't handle the truth don't read my posts. As a Christian I do Pride myself n never hating and am confident in that fact. Again, sometimes the truth hurts but it is not hate. I just don't post all lovey dovey nicey nicey stuff like Syb and Tango. I state it like it is. Truth hurts sometimes

No. I assure you. You are a hater.

And to sit there and say Sherri sits on her butt all game and never makes adjustments just says everything I need to know about your basketball opinions. You really just don't know what your talking about... Nobody is asking for "Lovey Dovey", but don't get on here calling for jobs like your some type of authority on the topic, especially after a very successful season. We finished second in the Big 12 only behind Baylor-- Who has a higher payed coach- so obviously, they should of finished better, right? We have a young,TALENTED team who has improved greatly and no matter what anyone says you will not acknowledge that, cause you are a HATER.

Sherri can't recruit.
Sherri can't coach.
Better get some players who can do this, and do that.

BS. You don't even know what your talking about. If you want to be tough guy blog poster than you should probably study the game a little better and formulate some arguments that are actually valid.

There are several people who hate on this board from time to time- but all of them at least acknowledge the good. For whatever reason you refuse to do so, and that is your choice but don't expect to get any respect for it. "The Truth" "The obvious"- As it pertains to basketball you CLEARLY don't know know what the truth or the obvious is... Later Hater.
