OU Texas

Some folks thought this team should be a 3 seed!! You really need to let things play out before you go all in !! Especially with this team! They are not really very athletic. If you watch other teams at all you kind of know where you stand. Nice little group of players.

That always seems to be our case. I always look back to the teams with those 6'2" forwards that can run, jump, and kill us on the boards.

If we had beaten Baylor in the Big Twelve finals, I assure you that we would have been a three seed. Enough said.

And if we beat the Spurs we'd be NBA champs. The way Baylor is playing they'd have used us for a dust mop. Enough said.

Yep, Syb doesn't get it, there was NO way we were going to beat Baylor anyhow. Probably better to lose the the horns that get our butt kicked tomorrow night.

You can not go at least 15 minutes in a 40 minute game without scoring a point. It probably ended up being more than that.

I was more disappointed in an OU athletic team last season with the Morgan-led disaster than I have EVER been with any OU sports teams. That team completely quit on their coach and their university.

This team is like Jekyll and Hyde. One game they do pretty good, the next it's like they've never even seen a basketball. In the beginning we could say it's because of "Youth" or "schedule." The schedule is still tough but the youth excuse won't hold water any longer. This team has played 30 games. They aren't inexperienced.

We did virtually nothing right tonight, nothing. Sherri's lone mistake today was not going big the very second Texas did every time. Carter should have been pulled and Sharane put in her place and Maddie and Kaylon or Maddie and Vivi should have been facing Lang and Stafford.

Gabbi's perimeter defense sucked tonight. Absolutely sucked. The only problem I have with Maddie is she reverted into not shooting.

Syb is also right. We absolutely stood around and played dribble ball all night long. Quick, sharp passes around the perimeter. Pass, pass, pass, pass early and quick!!!

This is what happens when we can't think of anything except throwing it in to Kaylon -- even when she's triple teamed.

I am pretty pissed off right now. This kind of performance is unacceptable. Tomorrow, they'd run until they all puked if I was coach and I'd tell them all unless they pick it up I'm starting another 5 in the NCAAs. I'm really tired of this up and down crap. Have we shot 40 percent in the last 10 games? I'm not sure. I don't think so.

Just absolutely pathetic. Pathetic. Crap. No one was worth anything today.

Sherri should have let Kornet, Kellog, Wyatt and Treece play the entire second half. They couldn't have been any worse.

Can you tell that I'm mad? *$&#%@!&$*@_!!!!

True and we did that without Kay-Kay playing well. Is it that other teams are now prepared for our strengths and weaknesses? We can be much better but we need to use the off-season to get there. I still think Sherri needs a really good assistant that complements her and that actually has input and coaches.
Not saying the others don't coach or have input, just saying we need an assistant that does that and complements her. I don't see it happening and I do not know why.

Where were you basketball geniuses twenty years ago when we were looking for a coach that could get us to the NCAA more than once every ten years? We could have saved all of this time by hiring you.

The first time we played each conference opponent we went 8-1, with the lone loss being at Baylor.

In the rematches (including the 3rd matchup with WV & Texas), we went 6-5.

The second time around in this conference was not kind to us.

Darrel Royal quote: "There are 20 million people in Texas, and every one of them has a degree in coaching!"

I wonder wht Derica didn't get in today? When we played Kansas last week we hit 1 of 12 threes. Derica was 1 of 1. The others were 0 out of 11. We were atrocious again today.

Why in the world not give her a shot?

I have no idea why certain players get playing time in one game and not another. I guess that it has something to do with what Sherri has seen in practice relative to the type of team. After she has taken us to sixteen NCAA tournaments, I tend to let her run the team without my consent.

For those of you who do not appreciate the significance, it falls into the "many" aspect of the "one, two, three, many counting system."

AHHHH the all knowing Syb and Tango LOL LOL. They are just happy to make the tourney. Forget recruiting/coaching/developing players to the level where you ACTUALLY win championships Big 12 and National. They are just happy to have a winning record and put 3 or 4,000 butts in the seats.

"Gosh we use to not win and they wanted to shut down our program blah blah blah blah. Well well well (picture Barney Fife) Sherri HAS been to the final four and she has won some Big 12 Championships and she DID recruit some 4 and 5 stars" BLAH BLAH BLAH. If that's what you want go root for OSU. We expect and DEMAND more, if she wants to perform at that level, I will say it again, Go coach somewhere where you get paid about $125,000 per year and they will be happy. I and many silent members of this board expect MUCH more for the financial investment the University puts into Sherri's salary/her assistants $/the recruiting budget the amazing facilities.

I choose to look at the accomplishments this team performed for the season, after a 5-5 start. Do you people realize that Baylor and OU were the only teams in the conference to have winning records on the road. The only two. In the Big XII conference we know how tough it has been, especially on the road. I didn't get to watch the game today because of a family situation that I had to attend, but looking at the stats, we had 13 offensive rebounds to Texas 8. We had the lead 34-30 with just a little over 10 mins. left and then the wheels apparently fell off. I guess we couldn't hit the broad side of the barn.

I was ready to give up on this team at 5-5 glad they proved me wrong. So what do we do now, just give up on the team because they had a bad outing today. I'm not happy getting kicked out in the Semi's and no chance of hosting a regional, but the improvement the kids have shown over the course of the season will serve them well in the NCAA's. I think there are a lot of teams that would just a soon not play us right now. Watch this team excel in two weeks. I don't think they get past a Sweet 16, but early on I didn't think they would even make the tournament.

Let's add a couple of things. Baylor and OU were the only two teams not to be swept this year in conference play. Baylor swept everyone other than Oklahoma and Iowa State. OSU swept Iowa State. So, everyone was swept other than the top two.

Today, Texas missed 25 shots. OU missed 43 shots. We missed the same number of shots that Texas took, 43. Still, despite having a horrible shooting day, we had the lead midway through the second half.

I'm sick of the yo-yo, but my points were that I'm not giving up on this squad and I DON'T blame Sherri for this. It's completely on the girls, IMHO.

Let's do remember that we finished in second place....4 games ahead of third! After today's game, Some people seem disappointed in them. I am disappointed FOR them.

That is a bit misleading when you look closely. We played most of the better teams at home prior to visiting their places. This was true of Texas, Baylor, Iowa State, and West Virginia - and we split with all 4.

We played a few on the road first, but they mostly included the weaker teams (Tech, K State, Kansas) where we got road wins, or teams we matched up with very well ( OSU, TCU).

The home loss to Kansas is puzzling. But we shot horribly in that one.

In addition, our opponents shot far more free throws then us in the last 10 games. You can decide why that is true, but the fact it happened is in the stat sheets.

My game summary is just a poor shooting day. It happens. I have never seen so many clanks, spinouts and air balls as I saw today. Our shot just wasn't there. If it had been, we would have won. Case dismissed.

1994-1995? I'm not sure I knew we had a women's program. to be totally honest.

Wow, totally disagree. When the team isn't doing the right things THE COACH is supposed to COACH them. She didn't.
