OU-UTSA Box Score

Game 2. Lots of positives. There will be ups and downs but look at KSU who almost lost to denver. WVU loses at home to Buffalo.

Odomes will be fine. He will be needed againist upper echlon teams. he can defend at a high level, yes his offense is lacking. So is a lot of players.

Muni will be fine.

James has been great, that scrimmage had me concerned... (lol)

Grad Newcomers fit perfect, guys that want to be here and compete every single night.

Manek, only will get better and better.

Jamal, a superstar in the making, once he figures how to score at a high level, which can be this year.

One of my concerns is that we don’t have a ton of natural scorers on this team. In fact, Brady might be the only true scorer — Will be interesting to see who steps up their game offensively as the year goes along knowing that James can’t keep up this torrid pace.

I agree. James will come down a tad but you never know.

Pure scorers are hard to come by, it is going to be committee like for sure.

The transfers are going to be a bright spot on this team!

The internationals (Polla, Freeman) are both busts. On a team with no real height, Polla and Freeman combined for 10 minutes.

If this forces us to play more smaller lineups, it's only a good thing. I want one of McNease and Kuath on the floor at all times, and then 4 guys who can shoot.

Also, I was critical of the Kuath signing, but he is an asset. Not a world beater, but he'll be able to protect the rim, which is really the only thing I want out of a big man.

I still think we will take our lumps this year, but next year's starting lineup of Harmon, Bienemy, Reaves, Manek, Kuath is something we can get excited about.

I think this team will struggle handling the ball and pressure against good teams though. Manek just at times won't throw it in to the open guy. Calixte is having to do all of the ball handing with Bieniemy backing him up.. Reynolds and James don't or can't break anyone down for the most part.

I really thought we would see more development from Polla. If he is going to play 2-3 minutes per game you might as well redshirt him if you think he has any potential. If he doesn't, he needs to go play at a smaller school (if he wants to play). Otherwise, tall practice player who is working on his academics, which is fine too.

Polla needs to save that redshirt for when / if he transfers . We don’t need to tie up a scholarship for another year for that kind of play if

Were the starters Calixte, James, Doolite, Manek and Kuath?

No, McNeace started with the other four on your list. He played well early on, but spent most of the second half on the bench.

Some thought Lon benched Muni to go with a smaller lineup when UTSA erased a ten point deficit to take the lead. While it’s true the smaller lineup worked to perfection to give OU a comfortable lead again, I think Muni sat out most of the second half because he continued to get caught out of position and give up too many easy layups.

Let’s hope LK got his attention and we see the real Muni in future games. He’s too important to the team to spend most of his time on the bench.

The real Muni will spend the majority of his time on the bench in conference play anyway due to foul trouble. He's a flashy defender, not a good one.

Bieniemy was fantastic, as was James. Manek struggled offensively due to pressure but was great on the boards. McNeace, on the other hand, was pretty bad.

It's interesting that the team took command with great defense when Kruger went to the smaller lineup w 3 guards and Manek & Doolittle in the frontcourt.

That was my "DEATH" lineup I dreamed up in a post a week or two ago. I loved it. Probably won't work against bigger, stronger teams as well, but was the real key last night. I love Doo inside more than on the wing.

Muni is not a good on-ball defender. Would have liked to see more Kuath last night, but it was a guard-oriented attack.

Two positives I saw on offense from returning guys.

1) James is putting it on the deck with a scorer's mentality this year. Finishing at the rim with his left hand on one drive and when there is a hard closeout, he is able to take advantage and get to the rim.

2) Manek actually caught the ball with his back to the basket!!! And he had a post move or two!!!! He is 6-10 and can be a mismatch against stretch 4's inside. He rebounded and showed better toughness this year as well. His shooting will come around, too good of a stroke not to be a near 40% shooter from 3.

To be good this year, I think these two are the leading scorers.

I am just the opposite as far as Manek throwing the ball into Calixte. Calixte rarely for a better term post up his man to receive the pass from Manek. He is like a jitterbug trying to fake his man out as to which direction he is going and the clock to get it in is ticking. It's a guess for Manek as to where Calixte is going. I don't remember Manek having issues getting the ball into Trae.

Another great game for Polla. Has really improved his game over the summer. Need someone other than Manek to throw ball in bounds. Had two turnovers against little pressure. Looks like Manek is still a year away from being able to guard a postman that has his back to the basket. I liked how hard we played.

Yes and Matt Freeman ran some backup point.

Sorry HAHA. No Muni started in place of Kur.

Ok I was confused watching the highlights because the score/game clock for the beginning of the game has the players on the floor I listed. I thought maybe LK was trying a different lineup.
