OU vs Gonzaga

Carter makes 2 or 3 good plays then 2 or 3 bad plays. She will get better but right now she's pretty much what you expect from a freshman.

I kept thinking Sherri would put Wyatt in to see if she could make a shot or two but she just went with her top 9 players.

I wondered about her, too. My only guess was she didn't think she was ready defensively.

I have to admit that I am a lot more comfortable when the ball is in Morgan's hands rather than Edwards.

I like to see Griffin and Kaylon on the floor together a lot more they seem to play well with each other.

We have to hit or FT missing FT can lose you games or championships i.e Spurs game 6

Although Sherri said TT did well when she put her in, I thought Edwards did what freshmen did, unlike earlier. She threw a bad pass, drove underneath the basket where she had no place to go, losing the ball for us twice with the game on the line. She was a freshman tonight.

Portia---box out, rebound, do something.

It seemed that the Zags would never miss from the free throw line. The final stats are stunning! 18 of 26 for 69.2%.!!!! We were 34 of 49 for 69.4%!!! I find that impossible to believe. They missed all of their free throws at the end of the game with the game on the line. Those are the first ones I think we made all night.

Stats look like this was a close game.

Palmer 19 Ellenberg 21 Neither had a great shooting night.

Wow, I had to go and check the stat sheet on that one. It seemed like for most of the night, Palmer was just killing the Sooners, although she did miss some critical wide open shots down the stretch.

However she only went 9-23 FG & 1-4 3PT, so indeed it wasn't her best night.

Regardless of what happens with Louisville, I truly believe that this preseason NIT has been a great event for our team. It should pay dividends for the conference season.

The Sooners had trouble with the Zags' pressure. I would like to see us pressure other teams to see how they handle it.

Louisville will be better than the Zags. The only chance we have of beating them is if someone other than Aaryn makes some outside shots. Needless to say, missing free throws will also put a nail in our coffin. I look for Louisville to be very good defensively based on how poorly LSU did against them.

I thought Sherri was smart to have Kaylon and Griffin in the game together. They did some good things. The big problem with that is, they could both get in foul trouble so having someone else to step up at the 4 is critical. I don't know what to think if Kornet at this point. She is playing hard and grabbing some boards but her shots are not close. I would still like to see us go inside-outside more. However, until we can make 3 pointers, not sure it matters much.

Yes indeed. Helps the RPI and gives the freshman early exposure to playing good teams.

It still amazes me that OU was guaranteed all home games for this national event. What a wonderful non-conference home schedule, that includes Gonzaga, Louisville and Duke. Wonderful!

BINGO! This is game #3 of the season! I really don't expect us to beat Louisville but would be ecstatic if we did. However, this tourney is probably the best thing we could have done, especially with our mix of experience and freshman. This tourney is invaluable for Gioya and T'Ona and also Nicole K and Kaylon. It will pay big dividends come conference and tourney portion of the schedule.

I think Kornet has as much, or more, "want to" than any player on the team, but she just is continuing to struggle, especially with her shooting. Let's hope by starting her confidence builds and she starts hitting. She just needs some success.

As one who two years ago had given up on Griffin, I have to admit (and I did last year) that she has dramatically improved. She's still a little week on the hands/rebounding front, but she is hustling, hitting some very nice shots that really can open things up for us if it continues, and she's competing as hard as she can.

I give her props. None of the Griffin nay-sayers were wrong two years ago about her not being a very good player. She just became one. Where we were wrong is we didn't think she was going to get better -- but she sure has heck did.

I think we are going to see some more of her and Kay-Kay together, especially if Kay-Kay keeps scoring 10 and rebounding 10 per game.

A lot of Kornet's shots look good. She has missed some layups that I don't know how she missed. Her form was great. She missed a couple of long ones last night that went halfway down before coming out. As much hustle as she brings, I'd rather let her try to shoot her way out. We don't have anyone else right now anyway. It would have helped if the officials had not let the Zags go over her back and call a foul on her on the shot.

Not sure I understand it either Louisville had over 8,000 at their game last night! I know the coach bought free beer for the first 2,000 but still about 3 time what we bring in.

Gonzaga started a 6-5 soph and a 6-4 Jr at C and F, with three guards. The C and F played 21 minutes, had six fouls between them and only seven rebounds. Sherbet, a 6-0 wing came off the bench and got 12 rebounds. Palmer, a 5-9 G, got nine.

WOW, that was a very good crowd!

It was 8,099 to 4,736. Maybe if we had offered 2,500 free beers it might have been closer.

The game is in Norman, and I'd Sooner be wrong than admit that LVL has the better team.

It's why they play the games.

P.S. The ratio was 1.71, not three-point-oh.

Louisville is the top ranked team in the tourney. Their attendance last year was better than ours. I do not know how we got the finals here, but I am glad we did. According to the box scores. our attendance was estimated at 2972 for Stetson, 3082 for Wichita State, and 3330 for Gonzaga. I think that is the number of tickets scanned at the doors.

I agree. Having all of the games in Norman is a great way to start the season.
