OU vs KU

I have tried to not say it all year but we are a terrible team.

Why in the name of the world would you have the worst free point shooter ( TT) in the universe in the game when they (KU) need to foul?

Insane.

Kansas is not as stupid so they know to foul her.

Well, I don't know if I would say terrible, but we certainly are not very good at times. You are absolutely right, why in the world would you have T.T. handling the ball in crunch time for free throws. Tough win though, the kids came through and we live to fight Monday night. Really curious to see which team shows up. Would love to close out with three more wins.

Glad we had Vivi and Maddie. Peyton had a nice game. T'Ona had some assists and steals. KU shot over their heads. But, we weren't staying on their shooters.

KU shot way over their heads...it's a win and if you'll look around its February and really everyone in the big 12 is going thru fatigue. Baylor is the only team that looks good right now ..not that they always hit shots or play perfect defense but they consistently control boards and give teams no second chances. Take the win as an ugly win and hope OU can find a way to the 3rd seed

Maddie dominated in every facet of the game today, with exception of giving up a couple rebounds.... When she starts knocking down shots- we are going to be a top 10 team- and Im not saying 10th ether.

Gioya looked a little hesitant today at times. Probably just one of those days. Hope she comes bk strong next game.

Vivi is just a force down low.

TT had a great game as well. She runs that break so well.

We played poor D at times, they had a lot of back door cuts and wide open threes. but we hung in there and pulled it out.

I am not able to imagine a situation in which I would play Kellogg over Treece.

I agree S4life but consistency is key for top 10 teams ...if vivi and Maddie and G can have that it will be good. But I've always thought your most consistent player has to be your PG to win championships. Not in scoring but mostly in running your team.

I hate to burst any balloons but we are not a top 10 team and we will not be a top 10 team this year.

Maddie didn't lead in everything. Vivi outscored her, 20-18. T'Ona had three assists to Maddie's two. Maddie did lead in rebounds and steals, five each. But, she also led in turnovers (4) and tied for the lead in fouls (2).

I think the reason that they had T'Ona in at the end was that the alternative, Gabbi, had made some silly turnovers, wasn't doing her job on defense, and hadn't scored all night. She is a good free throw shooter, if she can just remember not to throw it away first.

I might try Penzo in those situations, if she can hit free throws. We really need for Maddie and Penzo to teach everyone how to pass. The rest seem to want to lob the ball, and it gets picked off. Zip it.

well.. I can see from watching that game that we are ranked 20th, Norm. what I said was if Maddie plays like that- where she really dissected the defense, and cut them apart AND she starts knocking down shots, we will find ourselves right in the top 10. That was a really good defender on her too from what I can tell, she was strong and athletic, maddie tore her apart tho.

We have shot under 40 percent in atleast half of the games this year- this team is a lot better than that, so whatever assumptions your making based off what has happened this season- you need to remember we haven't shot well at all- that is the outlier. You, or I don't know how good this ream really is because they haven't played their best games yet. When we start shooting north of 40 % in games, then you can start telling me where we should be ranked.

Obviously, its too late in the year to go from 20 to 10, but, we will be on par with teams ranked in that area is what I am saying.

This team was 28 for 51. We were only two of six from three. We won--on the road---against a team that was shooting a lot better than normal. The team that beat BYU and Texas was a top 10 team. The team that lost to K-State wasn''t.

We lead 12-0 in softball in the bottom of the fifth. Finney pitched 3.1 innings of shutout ball.

Whenever this team shoots over 40% they look like a top 10 team. We have some studs when u sit and think about it. Vivi? she's a force! Goya? She can score with anybody! Maddie? Thats probably one of Sherri's best all around players I have certainly ever seen. and a lot of talent left to boot. We just have to shoot better on a consistent basis, its not hard- and its that simple.

Well said Sooners4Life0101!

Enjoyed Maddie & ViVi today. TT & Peyton were solid for the most part. Gioya is a scoring force.

We're talented and have a lot of tools and options, but we don't play as intelligently and assertively as we can on a consistent basis. We have the silly fouls, defensive lapses and mindless passes far more often than we should.

Loved Maddie's stat line today. I feel like she could post those numbers all the time.

"It" is in us … we just have to know that and bring "it" all the time.

I think Maddie has been more frustrated than I have. A lot of those shots that she hit today have bounced out. She hits the inside of the rim a lot for someone who misses so many. Prior to the past couple of months, she had always been a good shooter. It was this other stuff that she does that I've been waiting on. I knew she could score. I've been waiting for her to learn how long her arms are on defense.

I don't understand this comment. We were 28 of 51 today. That's 55%. But we certainly didn't look like a top 10 team. More like a bottom 50 team.

Vivi played 21 minutes and had exactly four (4) rebounds. That is losing basketball against all but the weakest teams. She did score well, but we need excellent play on BOTH ends of the court. And after those 21 minutes she was absolutely finished. If you were watching the game on ESPN3, she was begging Sherri to get her out of the game - as the announcers also noticed. After just 21 minutes!

We have given up on covering the 3 point shot. Especially from the corner. I mentioned that a while back and a couple of posters who must be struggling to either see what is happening or are confused about how to defend the 3 point shot, commented we were playing virtually perfect defense. Come on. Just count and see how many wide open shots - by 10 feet - our outside shooters get in a game. I can tell you it is very, very seldom.

I'll be interested to see the stat sheet to see the sub pattern for Vivi. She was exhausted. But, it seems to me that Sherri had pulled Kay Kay and left Vivi in for a bit. Vivi was so much more productive today that I think Sherri was reluctant to bring Kay Kay back in. She wasn't rebounding, and she was missing layups. Vivi finished. Kay Kay didn't.

I think she brought Kay Kay in. But, didn't she bring Vivi back in after a couple of minutes rest?

Sherri was looking for defense. Kellogg is good on defense. Treece is a sieve.

ViVi has a chance to be on one of the All big 12 teams... I can't see her not starting next year, maybe Sherri can play her down low and Mulkey in the hight post.

I suspect that we will see a rotation of Vivi/Nancy, much as we do with Vivi/Kay Kay. They will be different. Vivi is purely a back to the basket player. Nancy can face the basket and could work with another post inside or a good forward.

We saw a little of what can open up today. How many of Maddie's layups would have been possible if Kay Kay or Vivi were standing under the basket? They brought the defender high, leaving the middle open for Maddie. Must have accounted for at least eight points. I suspect we will see two different types of offense, but both will play inside on defense.
