OU vs KY

Dungee, Mulkey and Rich are going to be big additions to the team and I think all could start from the get-go.

Sherri has shown a willingness to go with 2 bigs. That could be a big plus.

She would bring energy off the bench for OU, but if you don't start her then it's Edwards starting and that's just not the answer...

One of the announcers said it best, Ortiz dribbled the ball for like 17 secs then was still at half court looking at Sherri to let her know what play to run... Just not a good sign...

Sad to say, but sometimes it seems as if we play somewhat of a "step-by-step, paint by the numbers" style.

We lack a feel for the game - and for competition.

I don't blame our players, but they seem to need a leader and a superior player who has that competitive disposition and will show the way. We have a lot of spokes, but no hub.

I really like our players, but I hope our girls spend a lot of time this offseason working on shooting.
If we're not A+ athletes, we need to be marksmen. If we aren't athletic and shoot 35% from the floor, we're dead in the water.

IMO Sherri better days are behind her. I don't think any changes will be made and OU women basketball will remain about where it is today..not bad, not great.

We actually fell off a lot in the last year. We were 2nd in the Big-12 - 4 games ahead of 3rd - last year and were at least competitive in the 2nd round at Stanford. This entire year has been a mess.

If we drop off that much again we may end up in the cellar.

Once again it is proven that defense wins games.

We lost because they had better shooters and got good shots.

We shot poorly and didn't get many good shots.

The officiating was horrible. A lot missed a lot of ticky tack calls.

I agree that kayKay pushed the girl off and touched her with the elbow. But the kentucky player was all over her and kept making contact after the whistle. Bad call. Should have been ignored.

Pretty much the story.

We also kept going to a well once we found it was dry. If you can't score in the post, use the post to create rather than shoot.

Ortiz dribbles too much, all the between the legs nonsense is ridiculous. I'm not convinced she understands the offense. Maybe she'll be like DRob and really improve her Jr year.

I wonder if they practice at full speed. We miss a lot f under the basket shots because they don't look comfortable at full speed.

I get frustrated when we can't grab a loose ball. It's as if we aren't strong enough or our hands are too small. Don't get it, but we lose a lot of loose balls.

Goya, Peyton, Ortiz and Maddie need to improve their shooting. They hesitate and don't take open shots. ViVi 's inside game must improve. Edwards improved this year, hope it continues. Treece needs to be a 4 and get near the basket.

I don't know if you have looked at the stats (perhaps you are too frustrated to) but they are shocking. Here are some thoughts.

1. Our guards - although not defended (based on the fact they never shot any free throws: Gabbi 0 ft's, Gioya 4 ft's) shot just 5 of 25 from the field. Throw in Maddie and the shooting is 6 of 34 - that's 17.6%. And again that was with apparent wide open shots since they were virtually never fouled based on not getting free throws. Between the 3 of them they went to the line exactly 6 times in the game.

2. KK shot OK but not great: 40%, but again she must have been totally uncontested all night since she only went to the line 1 time the entire game. Think about that. It is impossible as physical as it was inside that she was virtually never fouled. VV shot just 22%, again with no contested shots. Apparently wide open all night since she only went to the line twice. The entire game.

It is my belief that Sherri must start to protect her players when that trash is going on. She needs to take a stand and make it clear that the officials will wish they had never been assigned the game if they are going to treat players that way. So what if she gets a technical. Take a stand and at least try to get it cleaned up. In my opinion some officials are taking advantage of her players because she will not support or protect them.

After the game, in her press conference, she did talk about how unusual it is to see officiating that lopsided in a tournament game. She made it clear she was not happy with it. But that is too late.

Sadly, this season ended just as projected.
The roster is a mess. Either it's recruiting, scouting, or development. I'll leave it to your own opinions but it's a fact.
Too many one dimensional players. No one other than Manning who has any length and athleticism. And really you need Manning out on the wing.

I keep thinking back to the last Final Four team. No one on this roster starts for that team.
No one. Where's DRob, AT, Nyeshia. The speed, the athleticism are all missing.
OU had no one once Manning got into four trouble. How has OU not signed a stretch 4 or
another big wing in 4 years? What a total failure.

it's time to clean house roster wise. Free up some ships to radically increase/upgrade the diversity of
talent on the roster.

Hard to disagree with you atlanta, but who is going to sign with you when they see that kind of embarrassing performance? That happened a few years back and it got so bad, we did not have enough players to even practice. Had to add two volleyball players.

Sweetest,
Sherri has to make the same level of commitment to upgrading recruiting that Bob recently made.
For instance, Bob completely overhauled his approach to recruiting two years ago. Right now OU has the best recruiting start in football ever under Bob.
Two years removed from the worst home loss ever under Bob, the embarrassment to Baylor.
Bob fired Josh Heupel, Jackie Shipp, jay Norvell. He's hired Spurrier JR in a new recruiting role
catching up to the staff Saban has had at Bama.
OU's completely overhauled their social media presence in football. The messaging and branding of OUDNA is being used by Lon now.
Where's Sherri on Twitter?? Where's the staff?? Sherri could be leveraging all these efforts.
But there are zero signs that she is.

It's not so much losing the game. I really thought it would very difficult in Lexington playing them on their home floor. It's just the fact of not being competitive. Getting blown out like that on the big stage is embarrassing. This never used to happen. Even when we lost we were very competitive. even with UConn. Now we have them scheduled again I believe. What's that going to look like.

Hi OUHoopies. Sorry I've been away most of the season.

Tried to watch last night but was just too depressing. What has passed for an OU performance in a tournament game lately is not what I "grew up" on as a student in the early aughts... or even as a young alum in the later aughts.

Someone asked me what happened to the program since our last final four run, and basically, it just doesn't seem to be the type of program that will get recruits like Whitney Hand, Danielle Robinson, Abi Olajuwon, Paris twins, Stacey Dales, etc. anymore. Sustaining success is all about recruiting. Granted the injury bug has taken a lot of wind out of the Schooner lately, but that is a one year excuse at most (unless you're Travis Ford and you have no excuses for the other years).

I promise I will still be a fan but I'm just not sure when we'll be in a Final Four again. Hell, I'm not even sure when we'll be winning the Big 12 again. Making the tourney every year is nice, but I think last decade made our expectations a lot higher.

Boomer Sooner anyways :)

UCONN wins 112-52 and the entire team looks bewildered...

We could have used Kornet this year. She left, probably due to declining PT as Sherri went with 4 guards.

We hardly played the Freshman. Candidly other than Edwards, the bench isn't very athletic.

We have the worst hands and can't secure a loose ball most of the time.

For this team to be good, they must play smart, be technically superior and make their shots. They can't run people off the court. They aren't technically very good (millions of turnovers are proof) and they have poor shooting percentages. I don't think they have a lot of confidence and I don't see them ever upset when they lose after playing poorly.

Attendance is declining. Beating the 44th team in the tourney for WBB is not very impressive. But they celebrated as if they beat UCONN or N.D. That's all messed up. I just don't get the feeling they have very high expectations

The big bump the program got from 2006 to 2010 is gone.
Meaningless in today's recruiting. You have to have next gen stars to connect eras together.
Blake to Buddy for instance helps Lon greatly. It erases the end of the Capel fiasco.
Sam to Baker, AD to Demarco to Perine.

Whitney's knee injuries killed the progress of the program. And then recruiting dropped off.
Sherri needs to make some drastic changes, or retire. It's okay if she's burnt out. No longer
has that drive. Unwilling to do what recruiting has becomes. She's a great coach. She's had a great career. She's a HOF/legend.
But legends never retire well, they always stay on stage too long. Contemporaries like Sharp, Conradt all were forced out.
It's simple. Recommit like Bob did or walk away. Don't stay around being "average" when your whole career was a drive to establish excellence from nothingness.

Huskies lead the all-time series, 10-0
What will it look like? 11-0, 12-0, 13-0 and 14-0 would be my guess unless something changes a lot
