OU vs Louisville

Out coached is an over used term. Did she out coach the card coach at the end of regulation? I had just said to my wife we need to mount a charge or we are in trouble, and we did. Shooting, except for free throws was our problem with turnovers a distant second. Coaching, I don't know.

She had 2 timeouts left after the 2 coast to coast layups by Schimmel. Why not call a timeout and set up your defense? I agree with Vinny78 about getting outcoached at the end.

I am sure if Sherri had it to do over she would have done something different...we put Edwards in as she is our quickest player to guard Jude expecting exactly what happened...Jude just made a play. Did Sherri outcoach Walz when we went to the 1-3-1 trap and he had no answer for that. Sometimes it is just players making plays or not making plays...give them credit.

I do not know whether she outcoached the card coach at the end of overtime or not. We had a 6 point lead with 88 seconds left and did not win in regulation.

We wouldn't have been in a position to even go to overtime without the coaching that was done earlier in the game. A player who takes a last second shot doesn't win or lose a game. It's the same for coaching moves. Give a little credit to Louisville. They made all the right plays at the end, just as we did against Gonzaga.

The only gripe I have is how in tarnation does Shimmel, not once, but twice go the full length of the floor for two lay-ups with out off side defensive help? As was said, six point lead with 88 seconds left, go to a zone to stop any penetration, or make sure they score form out side. Other wise I thought Sherri did a nice job of putting our kids in sets to give them the chance to win. We hung with the number five team in the country, should have won. I am proud of the toughness of this team. Got some work to do, but I feel pretty good we are going to be tough to beat as our youngsters get more game experience and our shots start falling. Really proud of this team.

Sherri was more concerned about the first layup since she wanted to run about 10-15 seconds off the clock and limit them to one more possession with little time. But, I think she counted on Edwards to stop it or slow it down. Jude is quicker than they thought, and Walz told her to go straight to the basket that they wouldn't try to foul her.

If we foul her both times, and she hits three of four, we win. Nice second guess.

We played an outstanding team to a standstill.

Same here! This is Game #4 of the season! A lot of youth mixed in with the experience. This game, and tourney, were invaluable for this team. It will pay dividends in Feb/Mar when it really counts. Very proud of this team as well! And it was written all over Sherri, Morgan and the whole team's faces that they were NOT happy with 2nd place during the awards ceremonies. We'll be just fine, I think.
