I think this is a winnable game for us, we match up pretty well with the Ducks...

Slowing down Hebard who is a monster on the glass, and the walking triple double Ionescu will be the keys to winning the game. Ionescu Is a special player, ESPN is now comparing her to Stacy Dales...

Freshman Sabally is also a good young player who gives them Quality minutes off the bench, she’s 6’4 but plays positionless basketball...
 
I see that Louisville beat them 74-61. Otherwise, they have been outstanding. High assist totals. I really like Ionescu and had hoped Sherri could get her. I think she did visit. But, they kind of had an off day shooting with more turnovers than assists against Louisville. Louisville also beat Ohio State in Columbus, and the Buckeyes are pretty good this year.

Louisville has a guard in Durr that can flat take over a game from deep...
 
I think it will really be a hard game for us. Oregon is a relatively young team with a lot of the team back that knocked off Washington and went deep in the tournament last year.

It looks like if you go to the Oregon site you can get the game on their TV broadcast. They are not showing much if any womens basketball on the Pac 12 network because of the flood of key women's volleyball games along with men's basketball and football.

Trying to get the game on PAC 12 Network on the computer. Has anyone been successful?

Looks like our 3 point game has disappeared. Maybe we will heat up. Otherwise, we are in trouble.
 
this is EXACTLY how I figured this game would go. The only dang thing we ask of Ortiz to do this year is just stand there and shoot, no responsibilities really but to just shoot, and vintage Ortiz, inconsistent and just pathetic so far.
The only light on our team so far in this game is Shaina.
Vivi has had good looks because of Shaina's good passing, but everything else has been vintage OU.
For some reason, anytime we play a half-decent team, we just can't compete. This is going to be another predictable year. I still don't understand how Simpson is a starter, she has no redeeming qualities so far. Just incredibly disappointing again, year after year. Until they go out there and play like they actually think they can win against one of these competitive teams, i'm done watching games this year, just too frustrating to see the same type of team year after year after year.
 
Thru the 3rd Qt, VPL is 11-19, the rest of the team is 7-35 or 20.0%, 1-17 from the 3 Pt Line.
 
Not a winable game, we get smoked 92-74. VPL was terrific 32 points and 14 boards plus 4 blocks. We had no answer for Ionescu, she had 28. Our two leaders, Gabby and Maddie were off, plus their terrible 3 point shooting, poor Def.

Syb......what is the answer ?
 
We could be in for a long season... I’m almost ready to move on to next year.
 
If we just hit 30% of our threes, we are right there with Oregon. They were a bit hot. We just couldn't shoot at all. We really need for Maddie to keep trying until she makes it happen. Nobody else can take charge. It seems that if Maddie begins to hit shots, everyone does. If she isn't hitting, nobody does.

We had a stretch where we cut it to ten. Maddie and Shaina had about three or four steals. We closed and got the ball. But, LaNesia got involved, and she did nothing right tonight. She missed a couple of layups, Oregon scored, and we were down fifteen again. Can't miss every layup.

Vivi had a great night. But, her shooting percentage was actually a bit off. We got no help off the bench (I'm suggesting that the real starting five is Vivi, Maddie, Gabbi, Shaina, and Ana). Ana couldn't hit a shot. But, she was working well (layups and free throws).

Let's let this team work together for a while to see if they can find out how to help each other. They need a cure for the bad shooting night. 1 for 21 is--Oh, crap, I can do that. Gabbi did have a bad night.

Maddie needs to take charge. Need a Baker Mayfield-type attitude.
 
I agree on Mandy if your not gonna play more than 10 min a game starting is really questionable. But really what five do you put out. Shooting is tough especially when your other guard is pellington who can’t or won’t shoot it actually puts way more pressure on Ortiz. The pg is suppose to run the team this team doesn’t have one. Shaina had 3 assist but in pressure moments turns it over she is uber quick but she didn’t get many opps to rim that is easy to stop with good defense. Yes OU was cold from 3 but IMO when you limit a player to only doing one thing it puts more pressure on them if they don’t preform. More movement so Shaina can get to rim would be nice since that is all she does just like Maddie. Except Maddie will shoot. Vivi was great but you can’t ask that of her night in night out. That is the scary part on next year crew no post! I think ou played real min maybe 6 kids. And 4 of those were seniors. EJ has to show up!? Will she?
 
Our players do not improve from year-to-year so, no, chances are EJ does not get better.
My hope is that they grow as human beings. I agree that is more important and, if that is happening, then okay. I kind of think they could grow a little more as players, too, and I put that on Coach Coale. However, who knows? I am not a coach and am not there every day.
 
I haven't seen the games. I agree it would be great if Pellington could shoot more than just lay-ups. Has she tried? The stats I have followed, she was successful, so I am not sure I would fault her for that. Maybe she doesn't shoot because she can get to the rim. Maybe she will have to develop the shot for the college level. Didn't D-Rob wait until the pros to develop her shot? Or maybe shot some threes or long two's her Senior year? I mean she is a Freshman who is not playing with players that are as good as the players Danielle had to back her up and also help develop her game. Just thinking out loud. Not looking to argue with anyone. Certainly, do not mind if others do not agree.
 
With two more shots from behind the arc Oregon outscored us by 29 points on treys. Ball game right there. Once again a team that is supposed to be good shooters from outside couldn't hit a shot from outside.

ViVi was about all we had that competed tonight and she wore down and missed some chippies late. Ana and Gabbi has to keep shooting the treys. They can hit them and we need that to have a good year.

Defense was bad all over. Too many open shots, too many back door breakdowns, too many failures to stay in front of their opponent on drives. Little or no help defense.

If the officials were not Pac 10 they certainly officiate like they are. We got hacked on shots all night, few calls. They were over the back on rebounds, no calls. They didn't need bad officiating to win, they are a quality team.

I have to disagree Vivi had some goods but she has developed considerably - EJ could be used more imo Mandy i am not sold on but he Future is scary in the post.

I just think there is no one to control the stupid turnovers or bad decisions this team seems to make every time tonight they started to close on Oregon. Shaina is not that kind of player she is an athlete who sees the floor but is like stated before a freshman playing like a freshman at times her quickness can be her biggest enemy. What i don’t get is that her athleticism is crazy good when used correctly and why she isn’t a defensive stopper is crazy to me? I would think she could be better on that side of the ball because the nights she will give us points will be teams who play us one on one when she can get to rim. . Maddie ana and gabbi are the shooters. But they have to do more. Shaina and nesi are or should be the defense and vivi well she’s our stud! But a short roster and vivi will be wore out if she can’t get help in the post from EJ and Mandy.
