************OU vs. SWOSU Game Thread************

Booker just scored his third trey and has 15 pts alongside Cousins. Lattin just scored his first basket. Spangler scored 11 and had 10 rebounds. Hield was the 4th scorer w/double figures w/10 pts (5 of 12 from field and 0 for 3 from 3 point range).

75-34 w/about 1 minute left.

Slate w/a 3 pointer w/less than 1 minute to go.

Lead of 41, 78-37 final!

Second chance points 26-5 in the Sooner's favor

For those tat didn't get to watch I am pretty sure Slate played in the first half. Mankin and Cole defiantly played both halves. OU didn't shoot great from 3. The final stats made it look worse than it was because the Walton's took several.

Tubbs said several times he thinks Thomas will be eligible.

You guys didn't miss much but I feel for you. I hate when I want to watch and can't do it.

Couple of thoughts:

Lattin with 10 rebounds in 15 minutes.
Bennett with 3 rebounds in 11 minutes.
Barring Thomas getting eligible, Lattin will be starting before Atlantis.

Too many turnovers from our guards. 2 for Walker, 4 for Woodard, 3 for Hield and 3 for Cousins. That's not okay. Sloppy with the ball.

Still shooting bad from 3 and not enough assists on made baskets.

And we won by 41. I think we'll be pretty good this year.

Lattin showed impressive rebounding and pretty good defense (minus the fouls), but his offensive game looks raw. He had opportunities down low but usually didn't try a shot. He made only a single putback. Spangler missed his only midrange attempt but cleaned up quite well underneath. I don't really remember Bennett doing much of anything, and looking at the box score I can see why.

I agree about the sloppy play from the guards. SWOSU put together a run of 10-2 or something early in the second half thanks to three quick turnovers by OU. But they got it back together pretty quick and Kruger didn't even have to call timeout.

Booker played a great game. He loves the 3 almost to a fault. The only decision of his I would question is when he and (I think) Cousins had a 2-on-1 break in the second half, and Booker chose to fade out for a 3 instead of cutting to the hoop. He missed.

Walker chucked a lot of threes and never made one, but then neither did Buddy so I can't really hold that against him.

Defense looked okay. Gave up a ton of 3-point attempts, just like last year, but SWOSU couldn't hit them. I think it was almost entirely a 2-3 zone look until the final minutes.

Agree 100% with all of the above. Candidly, I was optimistic about Bennett, but he has not shown any facet of improvement thus far. We really need Thomas to get eligible ASAP. I'm still not crazy how this team falls in love with the 3 ball at times either. More movement and assists are needed to decrease the number of future dry spells on the offensive end.
