OU WBB Discussion & Thoughts

Something to note early in the year...last year our turnover rate (% of possessions that ended in a turnover) was 19.5% which was 177th in D1..this year so far we are at 13.5% which is 30th in D1. So one of our weaknesses during Jennie's tenure appears to be significantly improved with Aaliyah and Zya taking primary ball handling duties.

We'll win our share of games, make the NCAAs and probably win at least 1 game. But OU is just not in the same league as the very top echelon of
women's basketball. Those very top teams are going to whack us.
I'm not sure i agree with this take. If you are going off of the UCLA game...I'd gladly play them again in the NCAA. Beers/Betts nuetralized each other. Kneepkins shot really well that game and we didn't. Don't forget they are a veteran team, but honestly they are not that athletic. We had Frosh that were starstruck in that game & Chavez did not shoot well her first 2 games. OU has already made improvements on both O & D since then and they haven't even be able to practice because of the rediculous schedule. By the end of the year with Smith, Stewart & Lofton coming off the bench we are going to be WAY better on defense. Last year our 2 biggest weaknesses were TO's & guarding fast athletic guards in the SEC. We are going to be better at both of those this year and if we have a glaring weakness right now its rebounding.

I guess time will tell, but to say we are going to get Whacked and win 1 game in the tournament is a bit silly. This team is better than last years team and that was the only team to have the lead against UCONN at the half in the entire NCAA tournament. Let's revisit this post the week after playing South Caronlina and LSU at home.

I love them both, but neither Tot or Reyna would have started on any other team in the SEC. Yes, they were turnover prone...but it was their on ball defense that was more of a liability. That was not an issue in the big 12, but the SEC guard play is insane. I expect turnovers to be down this year and us to be better by conference play on defense.

Disagree. We are a lot better team this year then we were last year. And I personally think our ceiling is high.
