OU WBB Discussion & Thoughts

Everyone wants to talk about how we need more resources but doesn't seem to understand that those resources from US. We have to give to the collectives. Find donors with lots of money to finance things. That's how you compete. There isn't anything OU admin can do. It has to be from the grassroots level.

Love to take anyone who thinks texas is better than yukon for some $$$ if they want to bet.

UConn is overall better but Harmon and Texas pressing defense the first 5 minutes needs to be handled it sets normal teams sideways just like it did OU and you spend all game trying to overcome and catch-up

I think Texas versus UConn could be one heck of a defensive battle as I think they are the two best defensive teams in the country. I see Connecticut winning but it'd probably be a close one... I had two different brackets and in each one I had them as winners because I was so torn. Needless to say I don't believe UCLA or South Carolina will win this season

Some of the talk here suggests that Chavez is a liability for OU to go forward. Not the same but should LSU have cut Pistol Pete to get a more well rounded roster?

Not that I cared at all who won between South Carolina and U Conn, but I thought that was the most biased officiating I had seen in a long time. Geno raised hell during his interview right before half about his interior player being beat up, and that may have been so, but that isn't what I was talking about. So, SC bodies up every dribbler and impedes their movement and direction with there arms and body and never gets called for a foul, and the converse was consistently called against U Conn when on defense. I have bitched on here for years about how the girls game is going the way of the boys game, i.e. more of an MMA fight than basketball. But, the game was just ridiculous. That just isn't basketball and hard to watch for an old timer like me. Just hate it. The game was designed and intended to be a game of skill, quickness and speed, and not what it is turning into.

I think you make a good point. You may have heard Cory Close refer to UCLA's game vs. Texas as more like a rugby match than a basketball game.

I don’t think that at all. I think she can play her style and be taught to do so more efficiently. That helps everybody. Or they need to change her to a SG. In my opinion, and I’m old school, the PG shouldn’t take 25% of a team’s shots. If she wants that, then take her off ball and let her get open for better shots.

if she shot more efficiently this year, a lot of this talk wouldn't be happening. Blakes at Vanderbilt takes a ton of shots, but she also makes a high percentage. Chavez must improve her percentage, or it will be difficult for her teammates to be happy with her taking volume shots in my opinion.

I believe Chavez is more of a SG in college. She's either that or really needs to work on her ability to create for others, because her passing ability, assists, etc. could be much better, but she needs some grace also, she was just a freshman for goodness sakes! I'm sure next season she'll be improved in all aspects of her game.

I hope so! If her shooting percentages don’t go up, I think it’ll be a rough year.

But her play making with the ball in her hands is her strong point.

Score first pg. fears, RW, SGA, etc.

She’s not an elite shooter that we can run screens for
