(finish the sentence)

Mine: OU will not finish 11th as predicted because hard work and team chemistry mixed with young talent is enough to win games in this year's Big 12.

Finish the sentence...

OU will finish 11th as predicted because they missed out on almost all first and second choice recruits and have many mid-majors on the roster. There are some good pieces, but the lack of high-level talent on this team (at least for now) is alarming.

Head to head, there are 10 teams in the league that have more talent, more experience, and a better roster makeup than OU.

One could argue that OU has 5-6 midmajor type players on scholarship.

Will not finish 11th as predicted because it just cant happen...this is OU basketball, not Iowa State or Nebraska...the pride of playing for this University and make up of guys with something to prove should provide enough motivation to squeak out a decent showing...

OU will finish better than 11th because they are better than the teams at the bottom of the Big 12.

OU will not finish 11th as predicted because the brought in two (or three depending on who you talk to) of the Top 100 HS players in the country and they should be able to contribute immediately when coupled with two players with similar high school accolades now entering their Soph. seasons after respective Freshman Campaigns that were spent primarily as back-ups.

Head to head, and particularly in spots 8-12, there are very few teams in the conference that can say that they have five underclassmen on their roster that were considered Top 100 type talents. Moreover, OU has added highly thought of JUCO players in positions of need.

I guess Cam and TJ don't count?

No they didnt... they lost out on the highly thought of juco guys and took guys with a couple of midmajor offers. Im sorry, but thats what happened.

It was a huge class (in terms of # of players signed), and of course Cam/TJ/Newell count. That doesnt mean what I said isnt true.

will not, because last year we had "high-level talent" and we sucked it up and down the court. This team plays as a team and that can count for a lot in the end.

Cam, TJ, Newel are all high level talents.
Osby and Blair are highly thought of transfers (Especially Osby).
Tyler Neal was the Oklahoma player of the year, who has shown to be more athletic than expected.
CJ Washington was a JUCO AA and rebounding machine.
Thompson has already shown himself to be a leader and a hard worker.
I have no idea what to think about Ahmed

Agree with all of this.

Honestly, with what I saw of Neal in the workouts we have seen, he might be the true surprise of this class. Fully expected him to look lost with the wings, but instead he looked like he belonged (with more height than any of them). I might put him in the class with Cam, TJ and Newell...he certainly looks the part to date.

Can't speak about CJ but Nick had offers from New Mexico and Utah, these programs are not mid-majors.

I'll get us back to answering the post by bigtime.

....because Iowa State is terrible, we get Colorado and Neb in Norman this year and this team will overachieve. Even if it's just by a little bit. If I recall, Capel's first year here we were picked something like 10th and ended up tied for 7th.

It's not hard to overachieve when expectations are so low.

It's also not like teams like Tech, and Oklahoma State are really that much better than us. Those teams are beatable. And I think Texas and A&M are winnable games. There's only 3 teams in the Big 12 I think we get swept by. Baylor, KSU, and Kansas.

people are completely under-estimating Pledger & Fitz, last year was a fluke poor chemistery and hidden agenda's left the team in turmoil, you wont have that this yr. The guy's will play Defence and play for each other.

OU will not finish 11th as predicted because you don't have to be a big McDonalds recruit to be on a winning team.

I think we may do better than 11th.

There is no solid evidence that this team will play harder than last year. Cade played his heart out last year but it didn't seem to infleunce the others to do the same. We have so many players that we haven't seen or are young and inexperienced that I have a hard time visializing how they will perform.

One thing for sure. If this team plays like last years team we will be lucky to escape the celler.
