Three points from our reserves, all by McGusty, really hurt us in this game. The difference in the athleticism and the hustle to loose balls and rebounds was obvious throughout the game. That can’t continue to happen going forward!

Our reserves play better at home but that's normal for most teams. The road games expose them and they lose more confidence.

I will really disappointed in Lon for throwing some of the absurd lineups out there in the first half:
  • Freeman and Polla in at the same time.
  • Shepard and Lazenby (and no Trae) in at the same time. Although Lazenby did contribute with taking a charge.

It's like it was November and we were trying to experiment. Those two stretches (of lineups) got us in a big hole in the first. We were able to eventually recover and fought back, but weren't quite physically tough enough to finish today. I may get hammered for this, but some of this loss is on Lon.

Alabama treated it like a big game

We subbed like it was an exhibition

Big minutes early to reserves who did nothing

Manek had a freshman game

The bench certainly didn't help, but Manek and James combining for 3-14 from 3 on a ton of wide open looks was the difference on the offensive end for me.

It’s way past time to trim the reserves to an acceptable number. If our coaches don’t know who they are by now, what the heck have they been doing in practice and in games?

I really hope this was a "one off" in terms messing with the lineup.....and not an indicator of "rotation questions" this late in the season.

I was shocked LK took Lattin out so early, he was really playing well.

The bench didn't have its best day today.

When Manek scores 13+ we are undefeated.

Role players have to hit shots!

wasn't sure why Polla was in. He got hit lay-up blocked from behind. Bama was way too quick and athletic for him.

Kind of confused about the line-ups as well.

Agree, Odomes has been (besides) TY the guy who looks like he gives a **** in our losses.

Ah well, keep winning in the B12, which will be tough.

5 home, 5 away games.

I'll go with 7-3 in those 10...at best. 5-5 at worse.

It really is that simple for us. We make shots today and we win today. Didn’t happen.

Love the offensive Odomes we saw today.

When Trae is being doubled or if he is out of the game, I think the best player to run the offense through is Odomes. He handles the ball well and is a decent passer.....and he also seems to have the most confidence other than Trae.

It’s always about making shots. But when I see the following, I can’t help but be concerned:

McGusty...........3 points
Freeman...........0 points
Shepherd..........0 points
McNeace...........0 points
Doolittle............0 points
Lazenby............0 points
Polla.................0 points

When players of that caliber go scoreless, it’s usually due to a lack of effort. I included McGusty because he’s a lot better than three points a game.

It's clear to me from this game that Lon is clearly more concerned about Big 12 play, which is concerning. This is still important for overall resumé, but whatever.

I don’t think it is lack of effort but I agree it seems that way. I think it is tightening up on the road, especially in a game that was pretty physical. Our guys get out of their flow and they let negatives bother them. Look at our past 3 road games and give me a name of a guy who shot just OK from outside who is not Trae Young.

This team needs more guys like Baker Mayfield who like to piss off crowds.

Equally important Trae has not been shooting the ball at the 45.1% he has for the season.

Alabama 6/17 for 35.3%
OSU 14/39 for 35.9%
KSU 8/21 for 38.0%

Manek is a different player on the road than he is at home, not unusual for a freshman. Bad luck that we used up our home game last year against Florida whom we had no chance to beat, and go on the road this year. Pretty confident we beat Bama at home. Having said that getting up 5 and then getting blown away was disappointing
