OUr offense

anyone notice how it seems like every game we are working the ball around and specifically to fitz and cam for mid range shots and then boom like a switch i realize that cam hasnt taken a shot in like the last 15 minutes.. he is our best offensive weapon and he needs to be given looks.. we also get away from getting the ball to fitz.. i assume its due to the plethora of talent we have at the guard position...... thoughts?

its just dumbfounding to me.. i mean i know we have amassed the greatest 3 point shooting arsenal in the modern era but seriously can we work it inside to fitz all night one game, get some cutters, get some crashing the boards. work inside out for once

I think Fitz stops getting the ball because every time he gets it in position he puts up a shot. The only time he passes the ball is if he catches it out of position. There is no inside/outside game, it's inside and shot game. Cam seems to just stop looking for his shot. He started the game off HOT and aggressive, then like you said, boom 15 minutes later he hasn't taken another shot.

thats very true on fitz. great point. these are the things that frustrate me about capel.. Fitz needs to realize he can look for outlets and cutters..

I don't know if Fitz can pass out of the post. Seems like once he starts his move it's all he can do just control the ball to be able to get a shot up. He constantly makes his post moves into a double team and always to his right.

Yea, to have an inside/outside game you need a consistent threat in the post, maybe even 2. I love Fitz, but we need help down low to get an inside/outside game going.

I'm not sure if Capel knows what system he wants to run. I don't remember our half court ever looking like it's that much under him. We've had a bit better looks recently when Blair started going inside and creating things. But it's not been a constant thing in this offense.

Fitz cant handle a double team, it completely decimates his psyche. NU started the second half running a double team at him and that was the end of his night. His post game is completely predicated off of turning over his left shoulder. Because of these two factors he will not be as consistent as we would all like him to be this year. I am sure that this is something he and the coaching staff will continue to work on. For clarification, I am not criticising Fitz (I really like him) just critiquing his game a little.

Agree with you, but its not like either one was lighting the world on fire last night. They should shoot better than 7-19 from the field.

I'm not gonna totally disagree that there are times I wonder what we're trying to do, but not last night. They were playing a TOP 5 defensive team in the country and were getting some really good looks. The boys missed quite a few WIDE FRIGGIN OPEN shots - Fitz included.

There was some movement last night, but the one issue I see with Clark is that there are times he tends to float even past what would be the NBA 3 point line. When he gets the ball a little past the elbow, he is dangerous. Hoping the confidence from year 1 to 2 increases exponentially, because he truly could become an All Big 12 player
