Our showing - fan-wise

Indy.....if you lived here you would realize that ISU is 100 times more local than us. There are a ton of KU, KSU, MU, Nebbish, and ISU fans that live here. There are just a smattering of OU fans. I work at a company that has nearly 2000 people in our facility and there are 7 OU people. Several hundred ISU folks. We even have more Texas grads/fans than OU fans. Most OU people move south to Dallas, etc., not up here.

Yep, behind the 3 local schools and Nebraska, Iowa State and Iowa have big alum groups here. I see ISU stuff everywhere and they love their teams.

My point was that the drive wasn't any worse, really, from OKC to KC than from Des Moines. I realize there are more ISU grads in KC. That is part of what the deal is. It's not the whole deal, though. I talked to a lot of people that made the trip from Iowa.

Not to try to argue here b/c I would say that you and I are in the same boat on our fan support for the basketball team, but the drive time from Des Moines to KC is roughly 3 hours. From OKC to KC is roughly 5 hours. KC is much closer to Aimes. A good comparison would be how many OU fans do you see in Dallas (when it is there).

Here is where we agree. OU has a large alumni base in Dallas and it is close to Oklahoma's main city......yet, you do not see a ton of OU fans go to the games when they are there. Ultimately, our fan support for basketball sucks. It sucks for our home games in Norman even.

My hope is that this all turns around as our team #1 plays like a team that we can support and are proud of and #2 wins. Winning cures a lot of this type of thing. Especially for basketball which has never had the support our football team gets (not sure why that is).
