OU/Kansas game got a two minute segment on PTI -- Wilboun and Kornhieser both agreed that OU should remain #2 in the CBB polls. They also agreed that the inbounds violation should have been called. It will be interesting to see what the voters do.

what about Buddy's put back that got knocked out the from the net. Why didn't that get reviewed in the first half.

Because the ref was flexing his muscles and letting everyone know he was in charge.

There was a second shot in the second half I think that was another goaltending too. We got fouled and the ball was blocked after it hit the backboard. Amazing they didn't go review either one

There was also another Jayhawk that hit the net on one of their shots. I thought any hit on the net was automatic goal tending. This occasion was early and before the Buddy incident.

If we can bounce back and take care of business at home this Saturday we shouldn't drop lower than 3. If we did that would just show that no one watched last night or the lack of respect for OU. Not really concerned about it though, it's early January.

The Big 12 ref was in perfect position to make the call..just didn't have the guts to after the crowd and Self got on them earlier.

I don't even want to see that picture. That is outrageous. I knew the kid stepped on the line but I never noticed that he essentially had his entire body out of bounds. That should have been a technical not a warning.

You know, I wondered why they didn't go to video review on either of them at the time too. Apparently (according to the rulebook), basket interference/goaltending is a "judgment call". Which I think is ridiculous. Straight from the source:

Rule 11 - Instant Replay

Art. 4. The officials shall not use such available equipment for judgment
calls
such as:
a. Determine whether a foul occurred. (Exceptions: A flagrant 2 foul.)
b. Determine whether basket interference or goaltending occurred.
c. Determine whether a violation occurred except in 11-2.1.e and
11-3.1.a.2

Did people really not know this, that it's not review-able? Very little is review-able in hoops. And I'd prefer to keep it that way, since part of what makes bball fun to watch is the pace and lack of interruptions.

Thanks for posting. I was wondering about that during the game. I don't have a huge problem with these not being reviewable. I could see some serious problems with administering this during the game and I feel like the refs already spend too much time looking at video.

The problem is that the refs just had really poor judgment in these two instances. The one in the first half was particularly bad. Not only was the ball 3 inches from the rim clearly on its downward trajectory, the guy stuck his hand through the bottom of the rim. That's such an obvious call.

I was following Twitter during the game and someone on twitter, maybe Gottlieb, mentioned it wasn't reviewable but should be.

Nope, I really didn't. I agree that stopping down to review every little thing would bog the game down to be unwatchable, but for both of those the action had already stopped because of fouls. I don't see a problem in going to the sideline to see if someone swatted it on the way down, or through the net (as was the case for the first one).

That should absolutely be reviewable. Unlike a foul, it's not a judgment call. It's a "did you step on the line, or did you not."

The two Monday night were pretty clear, but that's not always the case. Whether a ball is on its way down can be a really tough call. Plus, how are you going to administer that? Stop the game on every close call blocked shot?

Again, the solution is just for the refs to get the really obvious ones right when they happen. Three college level referees ought to be able to see that a guy stuck his hand through the bottom of the hoop to interfere with a shot.

You could just review when their is a foul or whistle (like a block out of bounds) and let it play on when their is no whistle.
