How is this any diferent than Nick Saban stopping by Barry Sandar Jr.'s highschool (which people acted like wasn't that big of a deal) other than Pelphrey had a legitimate reason to be at this event and Saban had no reason to be at the high school other than blatantly violating the rules.

The dumbest part is that Pelphry allowed a picture to be taken. Coaches knows the rules and that infraction has to happen a ton, so he should be smart enough to cover his tracks and say no pictures at the least.
