Thoughts on the game

If you can do all three of those things, shouldn't you be able to win? And I remember lots of butts in the seats for a lot of big home games last year, and we laid an egg every time.
You really think Joe C/the admin has given Moser a legit chance to win? Some of the NIL figures we hear are a joke. Brandon Garrison is a Sooner if the program had any support at all.

what did you see wrt miles that makes you unimpressed with his athleticism?
i saw a pretty big/athletic guard who handles the ball well and seems to have a pretty sweet outside shot.
gotta admit i don't watch players' feet movement and i'm definitely no expert on defense....but i liked what i saw in game 1 from miles.

i think the quality of the team is a little better than last season. i base that on the fears factor combined with a better moore.
also...doesn't matter how "quality" the team is if they don't play well together. there were rumors after last season that uzan and mccollum didn't get along.
if true...that explains it all for me. also...oweh's collapse as the season went along seemed more mental than anything else.
hopefully this team has good chemistry and the results will be much better than last season...even if the "quality" isn't drastically better.
Miles doesn't have the foot speed or vertical ability I anticipated. I admittedly didn't watch much of his film, but w what he was ranked I expected better.

lol… if he can “coach/evaluate/recruit”… then we should be better than 18-11. That doesn’t even make sense. I would guess that every top 10 or heck 15/30 ranked team DOES NOT give every player $500k-$1 million in NIL… just doesn’t happen.

Studs are not coming to OU for more reasons than NIL $.

Iowa st is in the top 10, I’d bet they aren’t even close to that in NIL deals.

PM is the same yell in his hand pacing the sideline like he has been.
The talent on this roster is the fault of the admin/BMD whether you want to admit it or not.

I was responding to someone who seems to think that Moser has brought in good players and coached them well. If all those things are true, you would see better results.

As for Garrison, I mean, the guy isn’t Hunter Dickinson.

If you listen closely to Harroz yesterday, he essentially says the same about Venables. I’ve been saying it for a couple years now because someone close to the program and NIL has been telling me it for years. We are behind the 8-ball in NIL funding.

We have plenty of highly rated recruits throughout the offense. OL may be an exception, although we also have failed miserably to develop the high school guys we have signed there the past few years.

Had a BMD tell a buddy last week that OU football is not operating at the NIL numbers that are passed around publicly.

BV has bigger issues than talent though, IMO. Constant game management gaffes.

Game management gaffes are a bit overrated imo.
Maybe if we were losing close games. But the games have to be close for them to matter.

Offensive coaching is the biggest thing that needs improved

Had someone VERY close to the situation tell me that OU football almost missed "payroll" last January - was saved by a last minute donation.

OU basketball is even more restricted than OU football.

This is why I'm not for firing either coach. Both are handcuffed and both could be VERY successful if playing on a level playing field. In this day and age, you're not going to compete if you're not paying. Period.

Strip away the NIL stuff. Other than being a good defensive coordinator, what has Brent done that could even possibly make you think he would be a VERY successful head coach? Dude is one of the worst strategists I have ever seen. Wastes timeouts. Poor clock management. Indecisive when it comes to making key decisions. A history of not playing the best players at certain positions (or making sure his position coaches do). Inability to get the team to play with any discipline (see: turnovers and critical penalties). Add in some bad hiring decisions and the mishandling of the QB position, and he has pretty much been bad across the board.

I hate to say it, but Wichita is right here.

2022 WVU
2022 Tech
2022 Baylor
2023 KU
2023 OSU
2024 Missouri

We have enough evidence to say BV isn't the guy, imo. Blaming talent when we play the big boys is one thing, it's a totally different thing to blame talent vs those middling schools.

Wow. I had not heard that tidbit on payroll. Serious problem if that's true. I'm not a huge Joe C guy. Not sure how good we'll be at either sport while he's still here.
