If we do not land Young, what is Plan B, and who else are we looking at or in on?

I don't want to even think about it. The more I think about it, I will be so disappointed if he turns his back on his home town school and chooses KU just because of playing in front of better crowds and better chance to win more, etc.

Yes, those things are important, but a school where you were once a ball boy, a school you have grown up around, a school that gives you the keys to the car from Day 1 and gives you the chance to become one of the all-time greats...and more than anything, a school that desperatly NEEDS you. KU want you...OU NEEDS you. BIg Difference!!

However, if that does happen....unless we can add a Sr transfer..I would think we would save the sip for next year. Unless we can happen to get on a talented guy late in this class, which would be tough at this point. I personally wouldn't use it on a "project" type guy. Save it and go petal to the metal next year and hopefully land the 4 star from MWC or some other impact guy. I think J. Sherpard and Strong-Moore could be serviceable for a year...although we will most likely struggle to get to 18+ wins.

I also have wondered if McGusty could play some PG. When he has the ball in his hands he reminds me of Terrell Everett some..who eventually was moved to PG full time by KS.

But I'm hoping for the best!!! To me, nothing would be more satisfying then taking a young talented team to the promised land in front of your hometown family/friends!!!!

Young doesn't owe us anything. Quite frankly, if it were me (or my kid), I'd probably steer him away from OU with the season we're having. There are definitely better situations to walk into.

The only thing I'll be annoyed about is how long he made us wait, as most other realistic (and even unrealistic) options have closed. But then again, I can't say I wouldn't do the same.

At this point, my guess would be that our backup plan is Jordan Shepherd.

Even if we weren't having this season.

If the kid wants to play in front of fans....

Plan b is some 5-10 3* from New York who is by no means a lock if we offer. Losing Trae would be devastating to say the least.

Some people like the easier way out. Sounds like you are one of those.

Look, our record is not good this year, but we are 1-8 in games decided by 5 points or less. There is a very fine line between winning or losing basketball games. This team could easily be 14-9 or 15-8 with just a little luck. It's not all their losses have been by 20+ points. You must look at things very black and white.

A player as good as Trae could easily lead OU to a 20+ win season and a trip back to the tournament.

But if winning the Big 12 and playing in front of bigger crowds are the 2 most important things to you..then by all means, go to KU.

Not gonna acknowledge this.

Nicer facilities, better coaching, more established NBA pipeline, better fanbase, better chances to win Big XII titles and compete for national championships. Literally the only advantage we have is location.

Plan B is wishing OU has a great football season next year and no one will notice the basketball team much.

I'm not sure Young really does a lot to make us better. We've got talent holes all over our roster.

Speaking of holes, Lon Kruger and this team is digging this program into a deep, deep hole it may be difficult to dig out of for a long time.

Although I strongly disagree, I hope we have the opportunity to see just what he can do for us next season.

A guy like Young goes a long way to filling those holes. We'd be a tourney team next year with Young, and if he and McGusty both stayed, we'd be much more than that the following year.

He offers us a lot. I just hope he feels we can do the same for him.

Some comments on here are just plain ridiculous... Trae Young wouldn't make us that much better??? I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt within the context and assume you mean 20 Wins... As the poster pointed out: we are 1-8 in close games, and we have lead in the majority of our loses... a 5 star point guard makes us that much better. Blake Griffin revolutionized us, and he was a PF... Guards have way more affect on the game. Trae Young, when he signs with us, makes us top half in conference in year 1. Dude is a stud.

And to the poster who claims we are in such a deep hole it may take us years to dig our way out... it's one year man, or lady (not sure due to ambiguous user ID)... we will be fine. LK is a pro and knows what he's doing.

The last no name last second 3 star from New York turned out pretty good for us.. just saying..

We've got a pretty good scoring point guard in Woodard. Outside of McGusty our wings are terrible. And we've got no real post presence. All of our major players turn it over too much. We need better post players and better guards. Point guard will only help so much.

Hate to say it..but the team is in a total mess. (right now) I think they can win more games next year with or without Young. What you got to watch out for now is players wanting out. There may be one or two that has had enough for them and move on.

I don't think Odomes is terrible,in fact he's very talented. James is in a slump but we know he can play. Doolittle and McNeace are our future in the post. The post probably scares me the most though, we need a rebounder with some dog in him... however, I guess what I'm saying is: saying they are not playing well is one thing; but to say we have no talent is where I greatly disagree.

At this point Krugers job is to keep these guys focused and pointed to a resurgence. We are not what our record says.

If I was Trae Young, I'm going to Kansas. It's not even a close decision.
