Pledger and M'Baye

Players getting into it. In a game. A competition. A competition in which guys want to win. The first game of the season with a lot of new faces.

Good lord, people. :facepalm

Also, shout out to the usual crowd with an agenda against Pledger. He's far from perfect, but the obsession is pathetic...:clap

Hahaha! thank you for that laugh. It was just a bad basketball play on Pledger's part. Pledger should have thrown the ball to M'Baye because he was standing still open. If M'Baye was moving then yes Pledger should lead him.

Just like a qb leads a moving receiver running a route but if that receiver has already settled down then the qb will throw it directly to him.

Pledger made a mistake it's not the end of the world...

If M'Baye had cut to the basket he would have had an easy bucket or been fouled. Pledger had the right idea, they just didn't execute.

Sorry but pledgers idea was to get rid of the ball because he couldn't shake his guy.

And no, mbaye would not have had a clear path

I don't see them recovering in time to defend without fouling.

Can we just say they were both at fault and move on? Pledger's pass was too hard and it was to M'Baye's right, likely to keep it away from the defender who was trailing the play. Watch the replay and you'll see what I mean. Likewise, M'Baye didn't make much of an effort to adjust or catch the ball.

The important thing is that no one threw a punch or made too much of a scene on the sideline. Osby did what a senior leader and captain is supposed to do, he stepped in and called for a cease to their noise. That's the part I like the most. If Coach Kruger is okay with it, we should be too.

I think that is fair.

Kruger quote from RJ Young's Twitter today:

Lon Kruger on OU's chemistry: "Guys are doing great. All playing hard, playing well together. We expect that to keep improving." #Sooners

Yeah because we want guys running the "shake him" offense when there is an opportunity for a weakside cut to the hoop.

Looks to me like there are two defenders in the paint

If you can see the back of your defender's head, cut to the basket. That's almost as a cardinal rule as you can get. I understand M'Baye probably wants to float on the perimeter and knock down that trey, but catch that on a jump hop and posterize that guy. That's the "right" basketball play instead of settling for a transition three. Now if the roles were reversed, then yeah, skip the ball for a Pledger jumper.

This team needs as many high percentage shots as possible to be successful. Becoming a jump shooting team is not in their favor.
