I thought I would take over Ada's Steven Pledger thread for a game.

Over the last two seasons I thought he struggled a bit as a ball handler. When he played out of position at the PG and got exposed a bit. Anytime he went to make a dribble move I worried he would turn it over. This season his handles look much improved. I checked out his stats and the Arkansas game is his only game with more than 2 TOs. As often as the offense moves through him that is darn impressive. I've gotta five it up to the bird man. He has become such a smooth operator out there.

He creates, rebounds, has a perimeter game, a post game, plays D, and has good handles. This is the best guard play we have seen in awhile at OU.

Sam Grooms IMO is a big part of Pledger's improvement, in addition to his obvious practice and hard work. Having a point guard with point guard skills does wonders for the pieces around them.

Sometimes the sg and pg get forced into a situation where a turn over or horrible shot is simply part of the game. When it gets late in the clock they end up having to create more than other players and the turn over just happens. This happens to everyone but I think it statistically happens to a guy like Pledger even more because he is the leading scorer and go to guy. To me this makes his low turn overs even more impressive.

MN, thought I would give someone else a chance to sing his praises for a change. Thanks for filling in for me. lol

To be honest, I didn't think last night's game was one of Steven's best. It was a tale of two halves. He was more like last year's player for most of the first half. He was too passive and stayed mainly on the perimeter looking to shoot threes.

I was sure glad that changed in the second half when we saw a return of this year's player! He was aggressive on offense and defense, scoring on strong finishes in the paint as well as on short-range jumpers. That's the Steven Pledger I want to see for the remainder of the season!

He finished the game in the style we have all become accustomed to this year. :woot
