Point Proven: Woodard ready to lead Sooners in 2014-15

Nice article. I'm anxious to see how much Jordan has improved. PG is a tough position for a freshman to play, and they say a player improves the most between their freshman and sophomore years.

That Layout is awesome! Love all the pics to go along with a good article.

I agree with all of the accolades about this article. Great read with an impressive display of pictures and graphics to make it more interesting.

Jordan was really good as a true freshman last season. In many ways, he performed well above my expectations. With a full season of experience and another summer workout in his rear view mirror now, I expect him to be at or near the top of the point guards in the Big 12 conference, and one of the best in the country this year.

I expect Jordan to due a much better job of being a point guard this year. But statistically I do not expect to see a marked improvement. His numbers as a freshman were outstanding.

Maybe he can up his scoring average a couple of points and maybe improve is assist and t/o ratio 10-20%. But averaging 12.5 points with 5.5 assist and a 2.6 assist/turnover ratio is one hell of a point guard. Here is hoping everything comes to fruition.

I would expect (and hope) that his biggest improvement would be in the area of generalship. Getting us into the halfcourt sets and getting the plays underway correctly, spotting the open man and in general being an efficient point.

I hope to see the most improvement on the defensive end. I want him to move his feet a little better. That doesn't have to show up on the stat sheet, and I expect it will happen as the game has slowed down for him.

On the offensive end, I hope to see a mid-range jumper. Last year he had a wild layup or a 3-point set shot in his arsenal. I want some more diversity. I would love to see him take a jump shot off the dribble at about the free throw lane when teams close out on him.

I also think his command of the offense will be much improved.

If he finishes at the rim at a better percentage he should up his scoring. I expect his assists to T/O ratio will improve. I would like to see his steals improve and his overall defense improve. Defense doesn't always make it on the stat sheet but it wins games.

I hope he spent some time this summer at the Free throw line

I hope he spent some time this summer at the Free throw line

Jordan Woodard shot almost 78% from the line last year as a freshman, which isn't bad at all. He did miss some really clutch free throws late in games. I expect he will calm down and be even better this year when the game is on the line.

I looked up Austin Johnson, because he really struggled at the line his freshman year. He shot 58% from the line as a freshman and over 92% as a sophomore but ended his career at only 76% which is less than Woodard's percentage as a frosh.
