“That’s Baylor. They are a very, very talented team. They’ve got some talented individual players. I’m really proud of my team. I thought we fought hard. Without Cade (Davis,) which he’s our most experienced guy, our first Big 12 road game, that hurt us a little bit. But the guys that played really gave us everything they had. They fought and we put ourselves in position where we had an opportunity down the stretch. We had too many mistakes and too many offensive rebounds for Baylor, especially in key moments. There were too many and-one plays for (Baylor,) and quite frankly too much Perry Jones (III.) Again, if we fight like we did, the mistakes we made are correctable mistakes. But if we have this type of effort in the practices we have leading up to it, then I like our chances going forward.”
On gaining confidence from tonight’s loss
“I hope we did, I hope we did. Again, we fought. I thought we fought our first game. We just couldn’t make shots and I thought we got a little fatigued in that game. We fought this game. I thought everyone out there did it. We made mistakes, but if we make mistakes when we’re going hard then we can live with that, especially if they’re correctable mistakes. There are some things that we can go back and watch on tape and talk about, and hopefully when we’re down in Austin we can have the same kind of effort. We can correct those mistakes and perhaps put ourselves in a better position to win.”
