Potential recruiting of posts?

syb,
maybe Sherri's going for a 40 minutes of hell type super speed press rotation run a 2 guard/2 big wings/1 athletic post.
run and gun small ball.

Although she often mentions Roy Williams as a mentor and role model, she does not have much of a history of playing a deep bench. Perhaps this is because she has rarely had more than 8 players who were healthy and competitive. I suppose that we'll just have to see who can play and who can't. It interesting that we are now talking about the 2014 season and not the 2013 season. I'd be surprised if she plays a deep bench this year, as she has a core of experienced players.

Based on Sherri's past history Griffin will go 25-30 minutes, Ellenberg and Hook 35-40 and probably Maddie and Campbell at least 20-25.

That leaves 40-65 minutes for Portia, KayKay and Kornet. So we are probably talking 8 deep at the most with Portia the possible loser of minutes. She has a chance for action because of possible foul trouble for the bigs.

Probably a year of little conference action for the freshmen and not a lot of pressure defense. With a 7-8 deep rotation it takes too much energy to play high pressure defense.

We will probably run a lot because that is Sherri's game. And her players are usually in good enough shape to run on offense.

Interesting thread. I've seen some changing of positions by some posters from times past.

None of the discussion really explains Gibbs to me, which I think is the most interesting signing since D-Rob. What seems to be the case is that we offered her because the HS coach is a friend of DeCosta and DeCosta and/or Sherri thinks something might be there.

I think we need -- and Sherri -- wants a quality post. She really hasn't been able to get one since Abi.

I think Griffin improved tremendously last season, but she had a long way to go in my opinion to become good. She's good now. I am not sure whether we can get anymore out of her.

I'm not sure what we have or don't have at this point. If we don't sign a solid player this year, then I think SHerri makes it a top priority with the next class -- and it should be.
