That was probably me. I saw Manyang practice maybe 3 weeks ago. It wasn't in a scrimmage but "situational" settings. He held his own. He's not quite as thin as I expected. He's certainly not overly physical but he held his own...... won some and lost some. I mentioned one series where he got a couple of offensive rebounds and finally made a put back. He showed a lot of "fire" on that play and really battled. On the other hand, I saw CJ Cole score on Manyang one-on-one twice in a row on post moves in a session designed for low post defense.
IMHO he will help a lot on defense because of his length. He's just a lot taller than Spangler, Lattin, and McNeace, but not as explosive as Lattin. He will block some shots and change some others. The other team will have to be aware of him. I don't think he will add a lot of offense. Mainly put backs and post-up moves. He tried 2-3 jump shots from 10 feet but I don't think that's his strong point. No doubt he will play, and play a lot.
I'm sure he is a lot different now in practice and will be even more different a month from now as the summer winds down. If I were guessing, I would say he plays 20 minutes a game averaging 5-7 boards, a couple of blocks, and 4-6 points/game as our 3rd post player. Just my opinion.....
